2. Xidi

brief introduction

Xidi Village has a history of nearly a thousand years and was listed as a world cultural heritage in 2000. It has the reputation of "the most beautiful village in the world" and "the treasure house of ancient residential buildings".

There are hundreds of ancient Ming and Qing houses in the village. These buildings and roads are paved with marble. Two clear springs pass through the village, and 99 high walls and deep alleys are like being in a maze.

The landmark is the bluestone archway on the fifth floor of the village head, which was built at 1578. It is magnificent and exquisite in structure, and it is a symbol of the prominent position of the Hu family.

5. Mukeng Bamboo Sea

7. Tachuan Scenic Area

8. Wang ancestral hall

9. Chengzhitang

brief introduction

Chengzhitang, built in 1855, is the residence of Wang Dinggui, a big salt merchant in the late Qing Dynasty. It is also the most complete existing large-scale ancient residential building in Yixian County, and has the reputation of "folk palace". The whole building is made of wood, and the interior is richly decorated with bricks, stones and wood carvings. The wood carvings on the beams, arches, flower gates and window sills in the main hall are exquisite in craftsmanship, complex in levels, numerous in figures, different in shapes and gods, and can be called fine wood carvings in the "four carvings" art of Huizhou school.

The whole house is divided into inner and outer courtyards, front and rear halls, etc. More detailed are the mahjong tiles "Paishan Pavilion" and the opium smokers "Swallow Yun Xuan". Lu Cun 10

brief introduction

Lu Cun, located in the north of Yixian, is another small village near Hongcun. The scenery may not be as eye-catching as Tachuan, but it is among the tourist attractions because of its rare wood carving architecture.

The ancient residential buildings in Lu Cun were built by Dr. Lv Bangxie, a doctor of four reviews during Daoguang period of Qing Dynasty. The well-known wood carving building is the best in Huizhou art, which was carved by two craftsmen hired by the owner for nearly 20 years and is known as the "first floor of Huizhou wood carving". Its exquisite woodcarving and high artistic achievements are amazing. It mainly includes Zhicheng Hall, Sijitang Hall, Sichengtang Hall and Glass House.
