◎Plot summary
In the summer of 1945, the leader of the Corleone family of the American Mafia and the "Godfather" Vito Don... Corleone held a grand wedding for his youngest daughter Connie. The "Godfather" has three sons: the lustful eldest son Sonny, the cowardly second son Fred, and the younger son Mike who just returned from the battlefield in World War II. Among them, Sonny is the "godfather's" right-hand man; while Mike, although smart and capable, has little interest in the family's "career".
The "Godfather" is the leader of the mafia and often engages in illegal activities. But at the same time, he is also the protector of many weak civilians and is deeply loved by people. He also has a rule: never sell drugs to harm others. For this reason, he rejected the request of the drug lord Sollozzo, and thus intensified the conflicts with several other Mafia families in New York. On Christmas Eve, Sollozzo kidnapped the "Godfather"'s adopted son and family consultant Tom, and sent someone to assassinate the "Godfather."
"The Godfather" was shot and hospitalized. Sollozzo asked Tom to try to get Sonny to agree to the drug deal and renegotiate it. Sonny was foolhardy and vowed to take revenge, but there was nothing he could do. When Mike goes to the hospital to visit his father, he discovers that the bodyguard has been bribed and that the police are colluding with Sollozzo. The fire between the families is about to break out. Mike devises a plan to lure Sollozzo and the Sheriff to negotiate.
In a small restaurant, Mike killed Sollozzo and the sheriff with a pistol that had been hidden in the toilet.
Michael fled to Sicily, where he married the beautiful Apollonia and lived an idyllic life. At this time, the vendettas among the various Mafia families in New York became increasingly fierce. Sonny was also betrayed by Connie's husband Carlo and was beaten with holes. The "Godfather" returns from injury and arranges reconciliation between the families. Mike, who heard the bad news, was also attacked. The bribed bodyguard Fabrizio plants a bomb in Mike's car. Although Mike survived, he lost his beloved wife. Mike returned to New York in 1951 and married his ex-girlfriend Kay.
The aging "godfather" passed the position of family leader to Mike. After the death of "The Godfather", Mike began his long-awaited revenge. He sent people to assassinate the leaders of two other rival families, and personally killed Fabrizio who had murdered his ex-wife. At the same time, he also ordered someone to kill Carlo and avenge Sonny. Cut off all enemies. Connie bursts into the house because her husband was killed and beat Mike wildly. Mike sternly ordered Connie to be sent to a lunatic asylum. He has become a new generation of "godfather" - Mike Don Corleone

◎Plot Summary
Sixteen years after the release of "The Godfather Part II", director Francis. Ford. Coppola was forced to shoot the third episode of this gangster movie classic due to financial reasons. Although the overall results were not as good as the previous two films, it still provided an epic conclusion to the Corleone family history. Al. Michael, played by Pacino, has entered old age at this time. He wants to shift his family business from the underworld to large European companies and upper class society, and prepares to enjoy his old age. Unexpectedly, he discovers that the struggle in the underworld is as fierce as the underworld, and in the end he still remains. Disputes had to be resolved by violent means.
The main characters of this film continue from the first two episodes, but Andy is added. Garcia plays the role of the new generation of successors, the director's daughter Sofia. Coppola also stars in the show.
Content: The time is already 1979. Michael is over seventy years old. The government's constant pursuit of his crimes gave him the idea of ??abandoning evil and doing good. He proposed to the family to stop opening the casino and concentrate a fortune on legitimate business.
Michael's son Tony is studying law at university, but he does not want to be a lawyer and loves opera. Michael decided to let his eldest brother Sunni's illegitimate son Vincent inherit the family business and become the third generation godfather. Vincent is a very calculating person. He obeyed Michael's advice and was very pleased with him. But he was also a womanizer. On the one hand, he was having a tryst with a female reporter, and on the other hand, he was pursuing his godfather's beloved daughter, Mary. But Michael does not allow Vincent to marry his daughter because Mafia rules prohibit intermarriage among his own people. There was a conflict between Mary and her father. The two sides became estranged.
In order to redeem his soul, in his later years, Michael wanted to transfer the assets he earned illegally to Europe to legalize them. He implemented this plan through his connections in the Vatican. When the Vatican Bank suffered a huge deficit, Michael thought his opportunity had arrived.
In order to eliminate the last few enemies, Michael sent his men to track down throughout New York and Sicily. However, when he and his returning wife Kay watched an opera performed by his son Tony, a bloody massacre happened around him. The new pope was assassinated. A group of gunmen swarmed the opera house. Amidst the gunfire, Michael narrowly escaped death, but his beloved daughter died trying to protect him. Power brought Michael to the pinnacle of glory, but power also made Michael sink into the abyss of sin. He finally reached the end of his rope and gradually left this prosperous and noisy world in regret and despair. . .
Behind the scenes production:
The main characters of this film continue from the first two episodes, and Andy is added. Garcia plays the role of the new generation of successors. This episode is considered the weakest link among the three, but the overall level is still very high, providing an epic conclusion to the history of the Corleone family. Pacino's performance has richer layers than before, and the tragedy of the character is highlighted. But the daughter role played by Coppola's daughter Sophia has become a recognized weak link.
Highlights:
·Sofia Coppola (daughter of director Francis Ford Coppola), plays Mike Creaney's daughter, not as in The Godfather. He continued to play his nephew in one episode (1972). Winona Ryder was originally cast in the role, but she declined due to fatigue.
·Tom Hagen was in the original script. Robert Duvall refused to act because he had not negotiated his compensation with Paramount. As a result, B.J. Harrison's character was recast as a character like Hagen.
·Robert Duvall proposed that he should be paid $5 million for playing Tom Hagen in the movie. The producers rejected the request and recast the role, with George Hamilton playing the new lawyer role of B.J. Harrison. There is one sentence in the current line: Hagen has been dead for several years.
·The first song played by the band at Mike Creaney's party after the church service was called Cuban Rhapsody, in the same vein as the nightclub scene from The Godfather Part II (1974) In, Yolanda, a performer at the New Year's Eve party, sings a song to the same tune.
·At Mike's party, you can see a close-up of a pair of twin sisters in the crowd. They have long black hair. In the first episode of The Godfather, you can also see two girls who look alike in the scene where Don Vito Creni returns from the hospital.
·The twins are Sonny’s daughters.
·The aunt in Sofia Coppola’s character is none other than her biological aunt, Teresa Sal.
·Martin Scorsese's mother was one of the women who wanted Vincent to stop complaining about his indifferent neighbourhood. Also seen in Goodfellas (1990).
·In the trilogy of "The Godfather" series, the appearance of oranges implies that a death or the end is coming. Mike Creaney died next to some oranges, one of which was rolling on the table when the helicopter struck.
·Francis Ford Coppola agreed to the filming plan, partly to solve his personal and studio financial difficulties. Paramount approved a budget of fifty-six million dollars, with some strict conditions attached: he had to pay the writer-producer-director a million-dollar fee, the final version of the film should be no less than 140 minutes, and Any other excess expenses on the film will be borne by Coppola personally.
