How to convey emotions through works in photography?
1. Use plane light
Although plane light is not usually considered as the most interesting light we can use to capture scenes, it can be related to the environment around the subject. Putting the subject close to the light source can illuminate the beautiful subject and make some backgrounds fall into the shadow of the picture.
Put the subjects farther away from the light source, or use a lot of soft diffuse light, and the more stories you can tell, so that your audience can be attracted by the emotions in the scene and the background of the story you want to tell while putting them in the scene.
Masculine
Shooting men in low light can make the image more masculine and still arouse the emotional connection of the audience. Especially when shooting newborns, exposing the surroundings of novice fathers and only capturing some elements of their interaction can directly attract the audience to the emotional picture you are recording.
Highlight your theme.
Clever use of strong light or directional light to isolate your subject will make people feel lonely or introspective. Underexposed and underexposed highlights in the camera to ensure that you don't lose details in the highlights you want to capture.
Take nostalgic photos
How did you feel at that moment? For us, memories always appear in the fog of light and color, so I often try to capture these feelings by deliberately creating out-of-focus images. Over time, we often can't remember what a moment looks like, but we can remember those wonderful fragments that attract us.
What textures can you capture in the scene to remember how you feel when you touch it? Processing choices can help you convey the sound of the scene (using bold colors to convey noise, using soft colors or black and white to convey silence and calm).
Combined exercise
Nothing can explain "happiness" better than adding action to the subject, giving life to the image, and helping the audience to see the feelings at that moment.
Several ways to combine exercise are to give your subject an action and increase the shutter speed to capture it, embrace the wind blowing through your hair on a windy day, or capture the interaction between subjects. It is a good way to attract people's attention to the emotions caused by the movement in the scene by positioning yourself in a position where you can capture the sun behind the action and using backlight to enhance the joy or love in the image.
6. Delete redundant and prominent details.
Where is your emotional story? When the subject's head or identification details are excluded from the picture, it allows your audience to put themselves in the position of the subject. If you have enough patience and observation to wait for them to show themselves, you can find the emotional story you want to express through the body language details of the subject in the composition.
