Seven colorful underwater photography methods

Underwater portrait photography has aroused great interest of photographers since its rise. The unpredictable light and shadow effects in the water and the vivid and dreamy visual effects brought by the current have been sought after by many photographers. Here are seven colorful underwater photography methods I collected for you, hoping to help you!

First, avoid scattering.

If you shoot 2-3 feet away without turning on the flash, don't be surprised when you find scattering in the photo, which is inevitable unless you shoot in extremely clear water. The solution to this problem is to get close to the subject or buy an external flash.

Second, close to the theme.

Keep the original color

Remember: the closer you are to the subject, the better the color contrast and clarity.

Third, use soft light.

You'd better have a flash diffuser in your underwater photography equipment, which will soften the light.

Fourth, underwater focusing.

Lock the focus and shoot still objects.

If you feel that there is a long lag between pressing the shutter and focusing, you can lock the focus and press the shutter half-way, but this only applies to non-moving objects.

Fifth, choose full manual.

Automatic transmission can be used, but it is recommended to use full manual mode as far as possible.

Six, familiar with the use of equipment

It is important to control the flash.

Skilled in using external flash, strobe and aperture control.

Although you need to shoot underwater, you can practice indoors at ordinary times.

VII. Recommended shooting method

Generally speaking, there are two modes recommended for underwater photography:

1。 Macro, forced flash, automatic white balance, point focus, subject within 5-6 feet, aperture priority, F8 or so, or P file;

2。 If the subject is a few feet away from you, such as coral, turn off the macro mode, turn off the flash, customize the white balance, and use matrix/evaluation metering when there is sunshine at 25 feet.
