What are the formal processes of a film from production to screening?
Process 1: Select script
French film and drama writers write scripts, submit them to the film company or the French National Film Center, and apply to the Writers Association for registration to protect the rights and interests of the authors. French film companies receive an average of 2000 scripts every year, and the National Film Center reviews about 600 scripts every year. Specially invited experts organize a jury to select scripts with good stories and good business prospects. The examination fee for a script is 300-500 francs, and the stage script is generally 200-300 thousand francs. The asking price of big names in plays is often as high as three or four million francs.
Process 2: Implement production.
"The lovable script is handed over to the producer who is in charge of the film economy. Producers represent film companies or operate independently. There are about 1000 film companies in France. Of course, there is not a job every year. Buying scripts, raising funds, choosing actors and hiring directors are four major events for producers. According to the regulations, the producer should invest at least 15%. Once the film is profitable, the producer can get a 30% bonus. But the strategy of powerful producers is to shoot more and make up for the apology.
Process 3: Raise funds
Generally, sponsors, the National Film Center, the Film Culture Enterprise Investment Association help pay for it, as well as TV distribution fees. After the funds were secured, the director appeared.
Process 4: The director is ready to shoot.
Polishing scripts, selecting actors, writing storyboards, organizing technical teams and taking charge of shooting plans are the five major tasks of directors in the preparatory period. The actor's remuneration is one of the key factors that affect the director's decision. The cost of hiring a technical team accounts for about 20% of the total cost.
Process 5: Official shooting
France produces 150 films every year. The shooting cycle of a movie is six weeks, and the actual shooting is 40,000 meters. The rent for the studio is ten thousand francs a week. In the budget, the shooting expenses should be 10% to 15%.
Process 6: Post-production
In the director's meeting, it is a crucial link to calm down and carefully carve the shooting material, which determines the final form of the film. The editing work includes lens assembly and mixing, which takes 15-20 weeks. The budget accounts for 10%.
Process 7: Promotion and Distribution
Printing of posters and advertising materials. The editing of the pilot film and the printing of the copy are the three major tasks of the promotion publisher. The budget for promoting the film (not counting the number of copies) is between 250,000 francs and 4 million francs, with 25,000 francs paid in advance, and 15000 francs can be paid for the posters that have not been adopted. Holding a press conference is also an essential program.
Process 8: Official Release
The film entered the film market and started a new journey. The life span of a movie is 10- 15 weeks. Some films have suffered the fate of being shelved. After the screening period, a film is stored in the film library, waiting for historical judgment. . . . . .
