TOUGH SD card adopts Sony's top SDXC card specification, achieving the highest access performance of 300MBps reading and 299MBps writing, meeting the high specifications required by top cameras such as SDXC II, V90 and UHS III, and meeting the stable writing performance required for 4K or even 8K video recording. However, this is only the basic disk of TOUGH SD card for professional market.

The most important innovation of Tough SD card is to adopt a newly designed integrated shell to encapsulate and simplify the SD card mechanism. The previous SD card was composed of three parts: front, back and anti-write switch. At the same time, the contact part was designed with reinforcing ribs to strengthen the structure with thin contact surface. However, whether it is a two-piece shell, a write-proof switch or a stiffener, the SD card is easy to be damaged.

TOUGH SD first canceled the write-proof switch. After all, this basic specification of SD card is designed to prevent the contents of the memory card from being covered by the physical layer or deliberately deleted, but many people are unable to write to the memory card because of the damage of the anti-write switch. Tough? SD chooses to remove this rarely needed design, which often makes the memory card unusable.

Secondly, the shell of TOUGH SD card is made of brand-new epoxy material, and the shell is directly photographed on the PCB loaded with controller and memory particles. Through integral molding, even if the front end is thin, the strength can be maintained without reinforcing ribs, because it is not designed into two pieces like the traditional memory card. At the same time, epoxy is more elastic and stronger than ABS and other materials commonly used in general memory cards, and its bending resistance is 10 times stronger than that of general memory cards.

At the same time, due to Sony's promotion as a member of SD card association, such an integrated structure without anti-write switch and stiffener design has been recognized by SD card association, which has become the formal specification of SD card structure and ensured the compatibility with existing SD card reading equipment. At the same time, the tough SD card is specially labeled with a yellow label, so that it can still be easily identified in a dim environment.
