1. Sigulda Elegant Valley
Less than an hour’s drive from Riga, Sigulda is far away from the hustle and bustle of big cities. Beautiful landscapes, ancient castles and incredible adventures await you in this natural wonderland. For centuries, painters and poets have found inspiration in Sigulda's beautiful landscape. Overlooking the picturesque Goya River from Goya National Park, the forested valleys of Sigulda are filled with mystery and legend. They are a visual treat, especially in the fall when the leaves glow golden and red.
No matter in spring, summer, autumn or winter, the scenery of Sigulda amazes me. I like to watch the four seasons change in the Elegant River Valley. This feeling is wonderful!
2. Great Kemmery Marsh Boardwalk
The Great Kemerly Marsh is a part of Kemerly National Park ( One of the most popular attractions in Kemeri National
Park), it is an ideal place to explore the swamp and its local people. Along the boardwalk, visitors can reach the wonderful world of mossy marshes, where there are small pine trees, deep ponds and lakes, and the fresh and fragrant rosemary. Visitors can view carnivorous plants and a variety of birds.
The Great Kemmery Swamp Boardwalk is a favorite among nature lovers and photographers. As the days remain warm and the temperatures rise as night falls, this already epically beautiful landscape becomes a theatrical stage. Be sure to get here before sunrise, it takes a while to reach the observation tower. The sun emits its most beautiful light just before and shortly after it rises above the horizon. After that, the fog disappeared quickly.
3. Internet celebrity crossroads in the Old Town of Riga
The Old Town of Riga is the historical center of Riga, the capital of Latvia. It condenses the history and culture of the entire Latvia and is listed by UNESCO. World Cultural Heritage List.
The visual effects along the way from KrāMu Street in Riga’s Old Town to Jauniela’s 1221 Restaurant are so popular that it has become an internet celebrity street in the eyes of locals and tourists. You will often see tourists taking pictures here, saying to their companions: "This is the place!" Colorful buildings, roofs and old cobblestones create a rare composition.
4. Liepaja North Fort
The North Fort is an integral part of Liepaja. Here you can walk in the underground labyrinth and learn about the history and structure of Liepaja. The juxtaposition of crumbling buildings at sea makes for a surreal experience that makes for a great photo!
The North Fort in Liepaja is my favorite place to take photos one. I have traveled all over the world but never have I seen such a unique landscape. I had seen this place on some photography websites before, and it became my goal at that time. I had to go here and shoot it myself. Those collapsed buildings fell sporadically into the sea, giving the picture a wonderful feeling. It is really a good place to take pictures!
5. Sauerkrasti White Sand Dunes
The white sand dunes are One of the landmarks of Sauerkrasti on the shores of Vizim Bay. There is a beautiful sea view on the edge of the dune. The 18-meter-high white sand dune head once helped local fishermen find their way home. The dune gets its name from its white, hardened sand that looks like sandstone. The area was landscaped and the slopes of the dunes were reinforced. On the way to the White Sand Dunes, you will see the linden tree named after Empress Catherine II of Russia. Legend has it that Catherine II planted this tree while on vacation at the beach in Pabazi.
Nature presents different beauties at different times - sunrise and sunset, storms, morning dew, evening lights. I went to the White Sand Dunes at the end of October, and the morning was a bit cold. It feels a bit like winter. The White Sand Dunes is a very special place. You can watch how the river merges into the sea, you can walk into the sand dunes along the trails, and you can see different views from each viewing platform.
6. Window of the Latvian National Art Museum
The Latvian National Art Museum is the largest art museum in Latvia, with more than 52,000 works by Baltic and Russian painters and sculptors.
After the reconstruction of the Latvian National Museum of Art, the Instagram celebrity window has become one of the new symbols of the Latvian National Museum of Art. In fact, there are three such windows in one building. Through the windows, you can have a good view of the Latvian Academy of Arts, the Christian Orthodox Cathedral and Riga!
7. Lake Kaneris Nature Trail
Lake Kaneris is a lake in Latvia, located west of Jurmala. There are 14 islands in the lake. In 1995, it was included in the list of internationally important wetlands.
Kaniris Lake is very unique, with a trail running through it. You actually walk on a floating platform, surrounded by long reeds and hear a flock of birds chirping. All this, combined with the early morning or evening sunlight, gives it a surreal feel.
8. Pine forest
Pine is the most common tree species in Latvia, found in cities and forests. Especially in the Me?aparks forest park near Riga and in the resorts of Jurmala there are many pine trees.
The pine forest has a special kind of beauty. The sun reflects off the tree trunks and the landscape is so vast that the surroundings seem to become transparent. The branches are not in the way when taking photos because they only grow on the treetops. The orange-red tree trunks contrast sharply with the moss and green pine canopy. The sun had just risen, illuminating only one side of Pine Valley. Everything in the photo is in harmony, the forest, the valley, the sun and the man in a stylish yellow jacket.
9. Overlooking view from the tower of St. Peter's Church in Riga
St. Peter's Church is the tallest church in Riga. From its tower, you can see the red roofs of the ancient city and the modern part of the city. The Gulf of Riga and the Dogava River with their large ports.
No matter what the season, the tower of St. Peter's Church is an excellent place to overlook the panoramic view of Riga. Especially in winter, look at the roofs covered with fresh snow.
10. Ragupit Botanical Garden Wooden House
The Ragupit Botanical Garden is only 50 kilometers away from Riga, the capital of Latvia. It is located in a little-known protected area. The best time to visit is during the year. June!
The Ragupit Botanical Garden and wooden house were discovered 4 or 5 years ago. People love the fresh air and beautiful nature here. Most importantly, tourists like to come here when the rhododendrons are in bloom and it feels like time is forbidden. And for some reason, the photos taken are always very good, even ordinary cabins are very photogenic, so the botanical garden has become a favorite among photographers on Instagram.
