What is the principle of stereogram?

The reason why we have a pair of eyes is that we can see the spatial position of an object, instead of feeling flat like a photo. The reason is that the images seen by the left and right eyes are different, and the subtle differences between them are recognized by the brain, so the spatial position of the object can be judged by experience.

In the 1950s and 1960s in Europe and America, it was once popular to watch a kind of "stereoscope". In fact, it is such a mirror. It allows the left eye and the right eye to see two photos respectively, which are taken by two cameras at the position of both eyes. When people look at it with a stereoscope, they will have a three-dimensional effect.

There is also a question of opinion. People can't see things clearly. When we adjust the viewpoint to the front, the back will be blurred, and vice versa. Of course, these adjustments are unconscious. When we want to see something clearly, we will immediately turn our attention to it.

Cubic painting is the same principle. When looking at a painting, the viewpoint falls in a proper position behind the stereoscopic painting, so that the picture seen by the left eye is staggered by one unit block from the right eye. The left eye and the right eye also see different patterns. If these two patterns are made as different as the left and right photos, you can see the three-dimensional effect.

How to look at a three-dimensional diagram

It's not easy for a beginner to adjust his perspective to the back of the object. He can follow the following steps step by step:

1: Put your finger in front (25cm) and look at the object behind your hand, such as the ground. At this time, you should find that your fingers have become two.

2. Extend two fingers in parallel, about 3 cm apart, and look at the ground, so that the fingers are regarded as four, and try to make the middle two fingers close together to form three fingers.

Draw two small circles on the paper, about three centimeters apart, and adjust the angle of view to the back of the paper as just now, so that the two circles can be reassembled into one.

After the above exercises, if you all pass, you can look at the three-dimensional painting in the same way. However, it should be noted that the upper and lower sides of the picture must be parallel to the eyes, and you can't see it if you tilt it. But we can see from the other side (180 degrees) that we might as well give it a try. One more thing, if the eyes are nearsighted, there is generally no obstacle. However, if the vision difference between the eyes is too large, we must take care of both eyes and adjust the distance between the eyes and the paper to make the patterns seen by both eyes clearer, rather than blurring them at the same time.

Three-dimensional stereogram is an image work made by using the stereoscopic vision function of human eyes. According to the types of painting materials, there are photographic pictures, painting pictures and text pictures.
