People often ask me, Sue Se, how to use a computing tool? What are computing tools for? How can we master "calculation"?

Beginners of PS, when they first came into contact with the "calculation" tool, should have introduced the steps of channel peeling method on the Internet, selected green channels with moderate contrast, then saved them in Gao Fancha, then calculated them, then saved them in Gao Fancha, then calculated them, then saved them in Gao Fancha, and then calculated them ... Yes, we don't know the principle. Why do we choose the "strong light" mixture of green channel copy and green channel copy in the calculation process? We memorized these processes step by step, and then got the desired effect, but why are the calculation tools so wonderful?

In the whole network, computing applications are rarely introduced, even if there is, it is only a method introduction, and there is no principle explanation.

The channel skinning method will not be described in detail. After all, this method is a thorough application of channels as selection functions. It selects the part of human skin that needs to be brightened and beautified through a calculation tool, and "calculation" is a means or tool for selecting channels.

There are both connections and differences between computing and applying the image and layer blending mode. To understand the function of calculation and skillfully use it for yourself, you need to have a preliminary understanding of channel and layer mixing. Today, I will tell you how the "calculation" tool works and what role it plays through two simple examples!

First, the "calculation" tool is closely related to the channel, and it is generated by operation in the channel to form a new ALPHA dedicated channel, which is also the selection part we need. The channel is the constituency I have talked about the role of channels more than once. In fact, "calculation" is also a tool to generate the channel "selection" function.

Secondly, friends who know the tool of "Application Image" know that "Application Image" directly acts on this layer, which is irreversible, while "Calculation" forms a new area to be selected or reserved in the channel.

Thirdly, "calculation" and "application image" are closely related to the layer blending mode. To understand the layer blending mode, we must systematically understand the basic application of PS from the color. The application of layer blending mode should be mastered and understood skillfully in the intermediate stage of PS learning. There are proportions or formulas of various blending methods in the attachment, which students can master in application, so I won't elaborate here.

Fourth, "layer mixing" means that all layers are mixed together in a certain proportion and in a certain way, and "layer mixing" means that there is a relationship between all layers.

"application image" refers to the direct effect of channels on channels (including RGB channels or ALPHA channels) in a layer by using the blending mode of "layer blending"-in essence, channels (including RGB channels or ALPHA channels) are regarded as a kind of blending between layers, but the theme of this blending is a single channel or RGB channel in a layer, which is the direct result of channel-to-channel interaction on a single layer and the result of "application image". As for "calculation", let's look at the results first. The calculated result is neither a visual change of layer mixing like layer-by-layer mixing, nor a single layer change like "applying an image". The essence of the "calculation" tool is to mix channels in the mode of "layer blending" to generate a new selection, which is what we need in the next operation.

Knowing these points, we can understand how to make a constituency by calculation and use it for us through examples! ! This is the most critical point to master the "calculation" method. We photographers get a picture and go to PS with a purpose and an idea, instead of being divorced from reality, from the perspective, from the photographic language and from the aesthetic feeling. Photography must develop in the later stage, just like in the early stage. Think about what the picture is like and then pick up the camera. Similarly, if we want to develop a picture for PS, we must first P and then think that we will P. The key here is that we fully understand the proportional relationship between light and color such as layer mixing. This is an obstacle for junior to advanced applications!

To understand this hurdle, use the Layer Blend, Apply Image and Calculate tools. Skip this hurdle, in which "layer blending" and "application image" are relatively intuitive, while "calculation tools" are relatively elegant, so let's put aside the mystery of these tools and follow the actual operation of plain color! !
