High sensitivity test:
I turned off all noise reduction and all picture optimization. From ISO 100 to ISO 12800, the whole sensitivity was photographed.

At ISO 800, sharpness began to decline slightly. But the picture is still clean. The loss of clarity will not affect anything.
By ISO 1600, the noise of the picture began to increase, and the sharpness and details began to lose obviously. But overall, it is still within the acceptable range.
At the time of ISO 3200, the details and sharpness of the picture were seriously lost, and noise began to become obvious. This kind of image quality will have an impact if the output format is large and the quality is high.
Therefore, according to our standard, the image of EOS 5DS in ISO 800 is very good and can be used safely. At the time of ISO 1600, it still maintained a certain level of high image quality, and there was not much problem in using it. И o16000 is the highest sensitivity.

Because the fuselage appearance of 5DS and 5DS R is almost exactly the same as that of 5D3, there is no need to describe the feeling of grip and operation here. One day I didn't shoot a lot because of the weather in Beijing, but many improvements of this new machine made me very comfortable to use. For example, the second generation intelligent information display viewfinder, multiple cropping modes and brand-new automatic white balance all make shooting more handy. Of course, these new functions have not increased my learning burden, and they are basically available at any time.
5DS and 5DS R not only add the B-gate timer and timing shooting function on 7D2, but also can directly generate delayed video (first appeared on Canon SLR). You can get a creative photo without any accessories.
For the old users, the most gratifying thing about 5DS and 5DS R is that the original camera handle and wireless transmitter can be used in common, and there is no need to increase the extra cost. However, the design of giving up the 3.5mm audio output interface because of adding the USB 3.0 interface is still somewhat unpleasant, and live listening is very important for video shooting.

The same is true for high pixels. Some people say that high pixels are poor in high sensitivity, yes, but we can't waste high pixels because of high sensitivity. After all, you spend a lot of time using low sensitivity. If you have a high pursuit of the unparalleled details brought by 50 million pixels, you will naturally not care about the loss of high sense. What's more, if you compress the size of the picture later in the computer, you may have a good feeling.
Others say 50 million pixels, there must be too many lenses. In fact, this is not true at all. Why didn't anyone ask this when the 70D with 20.2 million pixels came out? Because it's only 20.2 million pixels per inch. If the 20.2 million Canon APS-C sensor is made in Quan Huafu, it can have 565,438+0.7 million pixels. Even if the lens can't perfectly support the improvement of pixels, the same lens, 50 million pixels is better than 40 million pixels.

In the dynamic range test of DxO, Canon products generally lag behind other manufacturers (products using Sony CMOS). Reflected in the actual shooting, Canon cameras usually have color noise in dark light, which will be more obvious after the later brightening operation.
Some people attribute this result to Canon's backward CMOS manufacturing process, but this statement is actually untenable. Photodiodes on CMOS are analog circuits, which can't be compared with high-frequency digital circuits such as CPU and GPU. Process improvement will certainly promote it, but a simple process gap will not bring such a big difference between the test results and the actual shooting. After communicating with people in the industry, we believe that the main reason for limiting Canon's dynamic range performance is ADC (Analog-to-Digital Conversion Circuit).
As early as 2007, Sony introduced CMOS with built-in ADC, which shortened CMOS→ADC→ image processor to CMOS→ image processor. The image signal is first denoised in CMOS, and the output of CMOS is digital signal instead of analog signal. After 20 10, almost all manufacturers such as Nikon and Pentax adopted CMOS built-in ADC scheme. Canon, on the other hand, still adopts independent ADC scheme until 5DS and 5DS R. What's more intriguing is that Canon has also introduced FPGA (Programmable Gate Circuit) as the front-end processing unit of DIGIC since 70D, which makes the image processing flow inside the camera more complicated.
The good news is that the dark light performance of Canon 5DS and 5DR has improved obviously. After the real shot sample is greatly brightened, there are no ugly color stripes in the past.
