It likes sunny, warm and humid environment, and semi-shaded in hot areas in summer, which is drought-resistant and not cold-resistant. North China needs greenhouse cultivation in winter, and Jiangnan area is more and more able to stand in the open field, like humid environment and have strong adaptability to soil. Generally, garden soil can grow, but sandy loam rich in humus grows vigorously and has a short dormant period in summer. It's easy to open when the sun is excellent.
Potted oxalis purpurea is cultivated with garden soil, compost soil and fine sand in a ratio of 5: 2: 2. Commonly used flowerpots have a diameter of 15 ~ 30 cm, with 3 ~ 5 bulbs in each pot and a planting depth of about 5 cm. After planting, it can germinate and grow quickly by watering and maintaining a certain humidity. When planted in the courtyard, it can be used as the edge material of flower beds, and can also be planted in clusters and pieces. Never plant in the shade.
Oxalis alkekengi should be watered frequently during the growing season to keep the soil moist, which is beneficial to the growth of roots and leaves. From July to August, the soil in the basin should be kept slightly dry, but foliar water should be sprayed frequently to keep the surrounding environment moist. Apply 1 time decomposed dilute liquid fertilizer every 15 days. Summer is its peak flowering period, so as long as the thin fertilizer water is poured once every 10 days or so, the flowers can be promoted to flourish.
Although oxalis is cold-resistant, potted plants should prevent frostbite at the roots. When the temperature drops in late autumn, the potted plants should be moved indoors in time, and the room temperature should not be lower than 6℃, and their leaves can still remain evergreen. If the temperature is low, the dead leaves can be cut off to make them dormant, and then moved out of the house in April of the following spring for replanting.
Potted oxalis purpurea should be placed in a semi-shady place in summer, and sufficient light should be given at other times. Because this flower is not resistant to high temperature, it will go into dormancy during the summer heat from July to September, and the flowering period will be reduced and the branches and leaves will turn yellow. At this time, attention should be paid to shading potted plants to cool down. If handled properly, it can not only avoid obvious dormancy, but also keep flowering.
