The play tells the story of the love and hatred between Li Xiaoyao, a waiter in a fishing village, Zhao Ling'er, a descendant of Nuwa, and Lin Yueru, the eldest daughter of Linjiabao, and how they join forces to eliminate the Moon Worship Cult and save the common people.

Li Xiaoyao, a waiter in a small fishing village. By chance, she met Zhao Ling'er, the princess of Nanzhao who lived in seclusion on Fairy Island to avoid being hunted, and got married to her forever. The Moon Worshipers came to the island and Xiaoyao and Ling'er had to separate. However, Xiaoyao was infected by the Worry-forgetting Gu of the Moon Worship Sect and forgot about the romantic relationship on Fairy Island. Later, he was taught sword-controlling skills by Shushan Jiujianxian.

Xiaoyao and Ling'er reunited. Xiaoyao escorted Ling'er back to Miao territory to find her mother. After a mistake, she killed Lin Yueru, the daughter of the Lin family, on the way. Ling'er appeared in the shape of a snake at the Lin family, and Yue Ru's cousin Liu Jinyuan fainted immediately when he saw it. Ling'er had to run away in a hurry. Later, after being enlightened by the mountain god, he learned that he was a descendant of Nuwa. Xiaoyao, Yueru, and Jin Yuan mistakenly thought that Ling'er was captured by the snake demon, and the three of them killed the snake demon and fox demon.
