A good book explaining the analysis and application of animation motion shots

Movies are portable and moving literature. If you don't let the camera move, why should you ask the audience not to buy a novel or watch a stage play, but to spend money to go to a movie theater that keeps a rigid posture for nearly 2 hours and also carries advertisements?

"If you don't understand the movement of movie lenses, it can be said that you can't watch movies, write scripts, make movies, and don't understand movies." - Zhou Chuanji

General In the production of TV series, they don’t spend a lot of energy designing some moving scenes. They often just avoid visual monotony by repeatedly cutting shots and using some simple actions. In common American blockbusters, a very simple action often uses large camera movements to express its dynamic feeling. For example, in the film "The Departed", it is just a shot of Matt Damon going up the stairs, which needs to be shot through an elevator. Shooting in motion is full of action. It is unimaginable to see a movie without movement. If you want to make a more in-depth analysis of the movement scenes, you need to conduct a more detailed analysis of the various factors of scene scheduling. Ground analysis (scenery, depth of field, angle, composition, setting, light, positioning, etc.), of course, another extremely important point is the expression of the meaning of the film by the lens.

Movement is one of the basic characteristics of movies and an important factor that distinguishes movies from other art forms.

Motion shots

Mainly refers to the movement of the lens itself, which is a lens shot using sports photography. In film and television works, static shots are rare. There are a lot of moving shots.

1. Push shot——

A shot in which the camera slowly moves forward or advances rapidly while the position of the subject remains unchanged. Using a push lens, the viewing range of the screen changes from large to small, the secondary parts of the screen are gradually pushed out of the screen, and the main part or local details are gradually enlarged to fill the screen. The scenery also changes from long shot to full, medium, close-up or even close-up. The main function of this kind of lens is to highlight the subject, so that the audience's visual attention is relatively concentrated, the visual experience is strengthened, and a state of scrutiny is created. It conforms to people's visual psychology of observing things from far to near, from the whole to the part, and from the whole picture to the details in real life.

2. Pull the lens -

In the opposite direction of the movement of the lens, the camera moves from near to far and back away from the subject; the viewing range changes from small to large, and the subject is photographed. The objects change from large to small, and the distance between them and the audience gradually increases. The image of the picture changes from less to more, from part to whole. In terms of scenery, the close-up or close-up and medium shots are transformed into panoramic and long-range shots. The main function of pulling the camera lens is to explain the environment where the characters are.

3. Panning lens -

The camera does not move. With the help of the movable chassis, the camera lens can be rotated up and down, left and right, or even around, just like a person's eyes following a certain direction. Survey the subject. Panning can represent the character's eyes looking at everything around them. It has a unique function in describing space and introducing environment. Panning left and right is often used to introduce big scenes, while panning up and down is often used to show the majesty and precipitousness of tall objects. The panning camera also gives the audience an immersive feeling when showing scenes one by one and gradually expanding them.

4. Lens shift——

The camera moves horizontally to the left and right in the horizontal direction. Lens shift means the machine moves on its own without having to follow the subject. It is similar to the state of people in life watching and walking. Moving the lens can expand the two-dimensional spatial imaging capabilities of the screen just like the panning lens. However, because the machine is not fixed, it has greater freedom than the panning lens. It can break the limitations of the picture, expand the spatial field of vision, and express broad life scenes.

5. Following lens——

A moving lens in which the camera follows the subject to maintain equidistant movement. The camera always follows the moving subject, giving it a particularly strong feeling of traveling through space, and is suitable for continuously expressing the character's movements, expressions or detailed changes.
