According to the requirements of the 14 departments, there are maps with serious problems that endanger national unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity; the representation of Taiwan Province on the map violates the "One China" principle; my country's Taiwan Island, Hainan Island, Diaoyu Islands, and Chiwei are wrongly drawn or omitted Three types of behavior, including the wrongly drawing of national boundaries to represent our country’s territory abroad; the representation of the dashed line in the South China Sea that does not comply with relevant national regulations; and the wrong labeling of our country’s important islands with names claimed by other countries, are special Action Check Points.
Department 14 proposed that those criminal acts that seriously endanger national sovereignty and security should be resolutely punished in accordance with the law.
Since then, Kurexi, Wang Guanghua and several deputy directors of the National Bureau of Surveying, Mapping and Geographic Information have led teams to conduct inspections in Xinjiang, Shandong and other provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities).
According to information disclosed by the National Bureau of Surveying, Mapping and Geographic Information, each inspection team found that there were indeed problems in some places during the inspection process.
The fifth inspection team of the special operation discovered during the inspection in Hunan that the maps sold in the teaching aids sold by Dingwangtai Book City had problems such as missing islands in the South China Sea, and there were missing maps in the Xiangjiang New District Planning Archives Center. Regarding issues such as mapping Taiwan Island, the Fifth Inspection Team requested that the "problem map" be removed from the shelves or destroyed on the spot and will be punished in accordance with the law.
When Wang Guanghua led a team to inspect Liaoning Province, he found that some maps were incompletely drawn, important islands were not clearly plotted, Taiwan Province was plotted with different background colors, and the South China Sea Islands were plotted incorrectly, etc. . During an inspection in Changchun City, Jilin Province, he discovered a historical map exhibit published by Japan during the Manchukuo period, which marked Taiwan Island as Japanese territory. Wang Guanghua emphasized that maps are directly related to the integrity of sovereignty and national rights and interests. We must attach great importance to and deeply understand the harm of "problematic maps" and require the exhibition halls to explain map exhibits and use historical maps as vivid materials to carry out national territory awareness education. A living teaching material to enhance people’s awareness of using correct maps.
According to the National Bureau of Surveying, Mapping and Geographic Information, the eighth inspection team of the special operation was in Shanxi Province and visited book sales places such as Shanxi Library Building and Deyi Cultural Plaza in Taiyuan City, the Shanxi Geological Museum and Pingyao County’s Pingyao International Photography Exhibition, Xinhua Bookstore, cultural supplies stores, and tourism markets conducted on-site inspections of publicly published teaching materials, globes, travel books, and exhibition hall maps, and found that individual maps existed Issues such as incorrectly drawn national boundaries, missing important islands such as my country’s Diaoyu Islands, Chiwei Island, and South China Sea Islands, and failure to submit for review as required.
