Do I have to pay a deposit to be an apprentice in photography?

I worked as an apprentice in a small photography studio. Because my main purpose was to study, I didn't ask for the apprentice's salary at that time. I paid a deposit of 2000 yuan to the store and signed a contract for half a year. A month later, I found that many things in the store didn't match what I said at that time, and I had to work 15 hours a day for the business in the store, and the owner didn't teach me anything at all. So he asked to leave and return 2000 yuan, but the owner refused to return 2000 yuan on the grounds that the contract time had not arrived. I complained to the Labor and Social Security Bureau, but I refused to accept it, because no salary can not constitute a labor relationship. But the store did provide accommodation, and I really worked hard and didn't cause any loss to the store's interests. Because the attitude of the store is very bad, it can't be reconciled. So I don't know any other way to protect my interests.
