The fact about bumblebee
Bumblebees are especially good at pollinating other animals. According to the National widlife Federation, their wings beat 130 times or more every second, and their huge bodies shake flowers until they release pollen, which is called buzz pollination. Buzzing pollination helps plants to bear more fruits.
Size According to the Integrated Classification Information System (ITIS), there are more than 255 bumblebees, so bumblebees can have many sizes. The largest is the Queen of Mumbai, which can grow to 1.6 inches (4cm) long. According to Scientific American, this is three or four times that of American bumblebee.
It is often said that bumblebees ignore aerodynamics and should not fly. However, a recent study solved the mystery and showed how wings keep bees in the air. The study, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences in 2005, used high-speed photography to show bumblebees flapping their wings back and forth instead of flapping up and down.
Professor Michael Dickinson, an expert in biology and insect flight at the University of Washington, told Life Science in an article on 20 1 1 that the wing sweepback angle is a bit like the partial rotation of a helicopter propeller. However, the angle with the wing will also create a vortex in the air, just like a small hurricane. The eye of these small hurricanes is lower than the surrounding air pressure, so keeping these air swirls above the wings helps bees stay high. There are many kinds of habitats in bumblebee houses, so it is not surprising that bumblebees can be found all over the world. For example, Argentina and Chile have found the largest bumblebees, and the United States and Canada have found rusty bumblebees.
Bumblebees usually nest near the ground-under piles of wood, dead leaves and compost-even under abandoned rodent tunnels.
Bumblebee is one of the most social creatures in the animal kingdom. A group of bumblebees is called a bee colony. According to the National Wildlife Federation, a group can accommodate 50 to 500 individuals.
This is a dominant woman, called the queen, who ruled the colony. Other bees serve her, or collect food or take care of developing larvae. In late autumn, all the colonies died except the queen. She hibernated underground for several months and started a new group in spring.
Eat bumblebees, nectar and pollen. According to the Bumblebee Conservation Foundation, sugary honey provides energy for bees, while pollen provides protein for bees. According to the Animal Diversity Network (ADW), they make honey by chewing pollen and saliva. They feed honey to the queen bee and the developing bees.
The queen bee is the mother of all the bees in the bee colony. After waking from hibernation, the queen ant will find a good place for food and nesting. Once she finds the nest, she will lay eggs.
