Of course, "should exist" does not mean "definitely exist". Now, both "young people" and scientists all over the world are searching for aliens in full swing in various ways.

Alien brush sense of existence? None of these methods are reliable.

The first is to use a SLR camera

. As the saying goes, "photography is poor for three generations, and SLR destroys life." If you hold a SLR camera that can practice your arm strength, you think you can find aliens, but you don't know how many generations to destroy ... The SLR camera may have an arbitrarily adjustable shutter and a freely retractable aperture, which can shoot incredible UFO flying sticks. But in fact, many seemingly realistic photos are actually made by people, and even the shell has successfully held the "UFO map change contest". To take a step back, even if there is a UFO, no one knows what it is and it is not forged. It is illogical to equate it directly with an alien visit.

Then analyze the video image.

The photos taken on the Phoenix Mountain should be just insects flying in front of the camera.

Let's listen to the alien broadcast.

It is a wise choice to monitor radio signals, because radio waves are the fastest communication mode mastered by human beings and reach the highest limit of theoretical information transmission-the speed of light. Whether intentionally or unintentionally, some radio waves emitted by human beings in daily life will always penetrate the atmosphere and escape into the vast space. Since the invention of wireless telegraph, radio waves carrying human information have spread to 100 light years away. If there are alien civilizations in the vast universe, they may enter the information age much earlier than us, so their radio signal coverage will be much wider than ours.

More importantly, in order to transmit information, the radio waves emitted by human beings have undergone special modulation, and many characteristics are completely different from those produced by natural phenomena. Therefore, if aliens receive such a signal, whether they can decipher the information contained in it or not, they can easily judge whether the signal has been "processed" by intelligent creatures. The reverse is also true: if we receive a radio signal obviously modulated by intelligent life and can confirm that it comes from the depths of space, it will inevitably become conclusive evidence that we are not alone in the universe.

Since American astronomer Frank 6 1 Drake started the monitoring plan in 1962, similar SETI plans have continued intermittently to this day. Except for a suspicious signal received 35 years ago (it was not verified afterwards, so it cannot be used as evidence).

Besides, we haven't found any "telegrams" that may be sent by aliens. However, Drake believes that we are on the eve of such a historic discovery. With the rapid improvement of monitoring efficiency and computer data processing speed, we are likely to receive radio signals from aliens in the next twenty or thirty years. In this process, we also have the opportunity to contribute and participate in the data processing of SETI project.

Looking for "dyson sphere"

On the earth, modern civilization is largely driven by fossil fuels such as oil, but the reserves of fossil fuels are limited after all, and the demand for energy by increasingly developed civilizations will continue to grow. 1959, physicist and astronomer freeman 6 1 Dyson pondered the question: how does a highly developed civilization solve the contradiction of energy demand? He imagined that a highly developed civilization might build a huge structure and wrap the whole or part of the star with a device similar to a solar panel, so as to capture the energy radiated by the star to the greatest extent. This spherical shell around a star, or similar device, is called the dyson sphere.

From the point of view of human civilization, such a huge project seems impossible, but physicists have put forward a plan to build Dyson sphere, which only needs five steps.

If aliens really built a dyson sphere and wrapped their "sun" in whole or in part, dyson sphere would absorb the light from the "sun", convert part of the energy into heat and radiate it again in the form of infrared rays. So if you look at it from a distance, this star will emit much more infrared radiation than ordinary stars. In fact, Dyson published this paper under the title "Looking for the infrared radiation source of artificial stars".

The SETI project also adopted Dyson's hypothesis in the search plan, looking for stars with excessive infrared radiation among stars similar to the sun. In 2005, Fermilab searched for such stars in the observation data of IRAS. However, due to some natural phenomena, such as a lot of dust around the star, it will also lead to excessive infrared radiation. Therefore, although Fermilab has found 17 suspicious candidate targets, four of which are quite "interesting", it seems that it is not reliable to regard them as evidence of the existence of aliens.

Peeking at the alien's home

Life, as we know it on earth, can only live on planets or satellites revolving around stars, not too close or too far away from them. If the distance is too close, all the water will evaporate; If it is too far away, the water will completely freeze. The area on the planet surface where water can flow is called "livable zone" by astronomers. If we can find a planet or satellite with a suitable size in the livable zone of a star, and then confirm the existence of life markers such as oxygen and methane in the planetary atmosphere through observation, even if we are not sure whether there are aliens there, we can at least assert that there is alien life on that planet.

However, finding livable planets is not easy. The planet itself does not emit light, but only reflects the light of the star. If the star is compared to a searchlight, the planet can only be regarded as a firefly at most, and it flies around it close to the searchlight lampshade. However, with the progress of observation technology, astronomers have found several ways to find "fireflies" that are almost impossible to see around distant searchlights.

Since 1995 first discovered planets around similar stars other than the sun, astronomers have identified more than 700 alien planets. Although most separated stars are too close, which is a purgatory for life like us, there are a few that let astronomers see the dawn of victory-Kepler -22b, for example, was discovered at the end of 20 1 1. Although it is still uncertain whether this planet is suitable for life, astronomers are only one step away from finally discovering another "earth" in the universe.

Unlike ordinary young people looking for UFOs in photos and videos, the above three are reliable ways to find aliens. It is estimated that the discovery of aliens may happen in the lifetime of our generation-if we are lucky (or unlucky). In the next three to five years, we are expected to find a planet suitable for living environment; In the next decade, a new generation of telescopes will enable us to analyze the atmosphere on that planet and infer whether there is alien life there; In the next two or three decades, SETI project may also make a breakthrough by directly monitoring alien signals and obtain first-hand evidence of the existence of aliens.
