Maxillofacial section

A: Curved surface tomography can be divided into three types: maxilla, mandible and full mouth, of which full mouth is the most common. On the panoramic film, you can see that the whole jaw is unfolded on a plane, and the maxilla, mandible, maxillary sinus, temporomandibular joint and complete teeth can be clearly displayed. Curved tomography is often used to observe diseases such as tumor, trauma, inflammation and deformity of maxilla and mandible and their relationship with surrounding tissues. Mandibular and maxillary curved films are mainly used to observe the lesions of maxilla or mandible respectively, and can display the corresponding images more clearly than full-mouth curved films (Figure 13).
