Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, formerly known as Central South Fine Arts College, was founded in Wuhan, Hubei in 1953 with the approval of the Ministry of Higher Education. It was formed by the merger of relevant departments of Central South University of Literature and Art, South China People's Institute of Literature and Art, Guangxi Art College and other colleges and universities.
