Photography light skill

Guangyuan's influence on the atmosphere and emotion of light environment is very subtle. So how to use light in photography? Next, I sorted out the knowledge of using up photography for everyone. For your reference!

I. Light source

Light source refers to the light source used for photography, which is mainly divided into natural light, ambient light and artificial light.

1, natural light

Natural light is also called. Natural light? It is the light that the sun shines on the earth, as well as moonlight and starlight. The intensity and direction of natural light can not be adjusted and controlled by photographers at will, only the angle and waiting time of the subject can be changed. Therefore, photographers should understand the change of natural light and its influence on photographic light before shooting.

2. Background light

Ambient light is actually an artificial light source, such as indoor lighting, outdoor street lights, neon lights, car lights, such artificial lights, but not dedicated to photography, all belong to ambient light.

3. Artificial light

Second, the quality of light.

Light quality refers to the soft and hard properties of light used in shooting, which can be divided into hard light and soft light.

1, strong light (direct light)

Strong light is strong direct light, such as sunlight without clouds, or artificial light that shines directly on people or objects, such as flashlights and lighting lamps. Under direct illumination, the light on the light-receiving surface and shadow of a person or object is relatively large, the bright part is relatively clear, the shadow is relatively thick, the picture contrast is strong, and the stereoscopic impression is strong. Often used to represent tough, rough or textured objects or characters. In natural light, it is difficult to get light on sunny days or at noon.

2. Soft light (scattered light)

Soft light can also be called soft light. Soft light is a kind of diffuse light, which has no clear directionality and will not leave obvious shadows on the illuminated object. Its contrast is small, the transition between light and shade is soft, the expression level is exquisite and the tone level is rich. Generally, cloudy days or cloudy days will produce soft light effects. Because soft light is soft and delicate, it is often used when shooting women and children.

Third, the light level.

Guang Shun 1

Shunt lighting is the most commonly used lighting method in photography, which is the light from the front of the subject. Its characteristic is that it can well show the shape and color of the subject. Therefore, daylight illumination is most commonly used in the field of landscape photography, which can not only fully show the topography, but also set off the best background of various landscapes with the blue and full sky under daylight illumination.

However, when shooting along the light, the side of the subject is not easy to produce shadows, and the picture will appear dull and artistic. When shooting portraits with smooth light, try to find a dark background or a form that can highlight the subject. Sometimes smooth light is also used to show the blue or details of the background sky of a character.

2. Indirect explanation

When taking pictures, all the light coming from the left and right sides of the subject at an angle of 45 -90 degrees can be called sidelight. Side lights are ever changing. Just changing the angle of the light source slightly when shooting can create a completely different effect and add drama to the whole photo. In addition, sidelight can also create rich light and shadow changes according to the type characteristics of the subject, so it is widely used in various photography fields.

Generally speaking, sidelight is suitable for expressing the texture, outline, shape and texture of the subject, or emphasizing or even exaggerating the three-dimensional sense of the subject, which can very well express the grandeur of the building. At the same time, shooting male portraits mostly uses side light, giving people a tough feeling.

3. Backlighting

Backlight is the light emitted from the back of the subject. Seen from the front of the subject, the side light of the subject is bright and the flash is beautiful. This is the most dramatic way to use light, which can create a dramatic or artistic image, but it may also make the subject's face and details completely unclear, so pay special attention when shooting. But if backlight can be used properly, more details can be added to the subject, such as the soft hair of the model, the cilia on the insect, and even the dust flying in the air.

When shooting a character in backlight, the front of the character will appear very dark because it is in the shadow. Therefore, what we have to do is to make the facial exposure as accurate as possible. This effect may make the background overexposed and the halo serious, but if it is well controlled, the effect is still very good. Of course, you can also use a reflector or flash to fill the light, balance the exposure of the picture, or use backlight to show the effect of silhouette.

Step 4: dome light

The top light is the light that shines downward from the top of the main body. Outdoors, the most common time to encounter the top light is about 1 1 to around 3 pm. When shooting in the top light, people's nose and neck are prone to shadows and even dark circles, which makes the model look ugly. Generally speaking, it is not easy to shoot with top light, but if used properly, you can take beautiful photos, such as making the model look up to change the direction of light irradiation.

When shooting scenery, the dome light is a good choice, which can create a bright, lively and warm atmosphere.

5. Bottom light

The light at the bottom is just the opposite of the light at the top. It is the light that shines vertically from people's feet, which often makes the subject look gloomy, horrible and dull. Bottom light is more common in stage lighting, but less used in portrait shooting. The low-angle reflector, square floor lamp and ground reflection also have the properties of bottom light, which can be used as a supplementary light effect.

6.rembrandt lamp

Rembrandt light is a special lighting technology specially used to shoot portraits. When shooting, the shadow side of the subject's face is facing the lens, and the light illuminates three quarters of the face, in which any side of the face presents a bright area of inverted triangle, so it is also called triangular light. The face shaped by Rembrandt light has a strong three-dimensional sense and rich layers. More importantly, the eyes on the other side of the shadow still have eyes to keep the face bright and the photos have a sense of drama.

7. Butterfly lights

Butterfly light is also called Paramount light, because the shadow under the nose is butterfly-shaped, so it is called butterfly light. It is a common lighting method used by early Hollywood film companies to shoot beautiful women and movie stars in movies or stills. The light source of the butterfly lamp is set above the face, which will create the shadow of the cheeks and chin, so it will highlight the cheekbones, make the face look thinner and the chin sharper, and enhance the charm of the object. However, it should be noted that sometimes it is necessary to use a reflector to supplement the light below the face and eliminate the heavy shadow.

8. Split light

Split lighting is to place the light source on the left or right side of the object at 90 degrees, so that the face appears bright and dark. This kind of lighting will create a strong sense of drama and is suitable for expressing the distinctive personality or temperament of the characters. Such as artists and musicians. It is also often used to shoot men to show a sense of toughness. At the same time, using black and white pictures to express, the contrast between light and dark will be stronger, and better visual effects can be obtained.

9. Ring light

Circular light is slightly modified on the basis of butterfly light, which is very suitable for shooting common oval faces. This method can make the nose cast some shadows on the cheeks. In order to achieve this effect, the light source should be slightly higher than the plane of the eyes and camera by 30-40 degrees. When using circular lighting method, the outline and three-dimensional sense of characters are mainly emphasized.

Lighting refers to the special lighting for photography. Unlike ambient light, it can be controlled by the photographer. Such as flash, LED spotlight and so on.
