Asini Boshan Night Sky Shooting Skills

"When I was preparing for this shoot, Asini Boshan was already on my plan list. This is one of the most beautiful peaks I have ever seen. However, it is not easy to take a unique photo of such a landscape. Not only do many other photographers shoot many excellent works here, but the terrain here is also very complicated. Therefore, taking a unique photo has become my primary goal. I walked five kilometers from Boshan, Asini, and found a better place where I could see the details of the peaks and the reflections in the water. After sunset, the sky began to dance, and the rising moon added a unique color to the sky. I know my chance has come. "

shoot

"I use a Canon 5D Mark II with EOS 16-35 f/2.8L II lens. I put them on the portable tripod of Bainuo C2980, and the stability of B2 table is also very good. I triggered the shutter with Canon RC- 1

In order to get a higher picture quality, I will take some photos before the sky turns completely black, so as to preserve the details of the dark parts of mountains and rivers, so as to restore these details in post-processing. "

The first one: 16mm, ISO 100, F/7. 1, 30s, two-stage GND filter. After 30 minutes, the sky has become very dark, and the moon has just risen directly behind the peak. I began to prepare for the second shot, this time I mainly focused on the sky and its reflection in the water. In the second group, I took a lot of photos, and then I chose the most suitable one.

The second picture: 16 mm, ISO 1600, f/2.8, 8 seconds, no filter. The second one has the same composition as the first one, but the sensitivity is increased to 1600, and a large aperture is used. Only in this way can the stars in the sky be clearer and keep less noise. After another 30 minutes, that is, from the first picture 1 hour, more stars appeared in the sky, so I decided to take some more pictures. But this time, I will move the composition up slightly to capture more stars.

The third picture: 16mm, ISO 3200, f/4, 20 seconds, no filter.

later stage

The first two images are superimposed together because their compositions are exactly the same. I use CameraRaw 6.7 to open the original camera image, adjust the white balance, adjust the colors of the two images to be consistent, and then slightly improve the clarity and natural saturation of the two images to 12. Then load it into Photoshop CS5. In Photoshop, I kept most of the contents of the land in the first picture, while the river used the contents in the second picture. Then I need to integrate the third picture. After fine-tuning the RAW image, load it into Photoshop, put it into the project that just used the first two kinds of composition, and carefully compare the image with it. Next, I use a mask to keep the sky part of the third picture. Finally, the synthesized image is cut into 1: 1 frame, and the output is saved.

Three suggestions from photographers

1, before assuming a tripod, be sure to know the surrounding terrain clearly. Choosing a good shooting position is very important, because once the tripod is set up, your position will remain basically the same. So be sure to spend some time thinking about the shooting location before shooting.

2. Sometimes using a square frame is the key to success. Especially when the picture contains foreground, medium and long-term content at the same time. But shooting a box is also challenging, so you must consider the overall structure of the picture when shooting.

For shooting the sunset, you can wait for a while after the best lighting effect has passed, because under normal circumstances, there may be beautiful night scenes and starry sky after sunset.
