How do novices set up new cameras?

If you are unfamiliar with photography, as a novice photographer, after buying a camera, the problem you will encounter is how to set up the camera before using it. Let's introduce how to set up the camera after you get it by Xiaobian.

1, charge the battery.

First, determine whether the camera supports external battery power supply, which requires unpacking inspection. Charge the camera after confirmation.

Step 2 format the memory card

After the battery is fully charged, insert the memory card into the slot provided for it. Then turn on the camera, press the menu button, and then find the option to format.

Make sure that the memory card can be used when formatting. If the card has been used before, please be sure to change the important photos in the memory card to download and save.

3. Set the picture saving format

If you need the camera to take the best photos, please set the best image quality option. Can be called the highest JPEG, fine JPEG or ultra-fine JPEG.

If the camera allows shooting RAW files, JPEG format can be used at the same time, because RAW contains the largest amount of image data.

However, the disadvantage of RAW files is that they must be processed and converted into a common file format, such as TIFF or JPEG. Only in this way can we share it with friends and family.

If you are not familiar with photography, don't just take RAW files and take JPEG photos at the same time.

4, white balance-automatic mode

The white balance system of the camera is to shoot the effect we see. In most cases, setting automatic mode can achieve good results. But in some cases, this is not enough. Under certain lighting conditions, it is best to choose "fluorescent lamp" or "incandescent lamp" mode.

Manual white balance selection can be set by shooting a white object (such as a piece of paper), but you should consider using this option in the future.

5. Measurement mode

Many cameras offer three metering modes, which can evaluate the brightness of light and provide appropriate exposure settings.

In addition to central focus metering and spot metering, there is a third option, called evaluation, matrix, multi-area or multi-subdivision. Because it will consider the brightness of the whole surface of the scene and try to recommend exposure settings to produce a beautiful balanced lens.

6, autofocus

Most camera settings tell the device which autofocus point to use. If you are a beginner, this is a good choice.

The camera tends to focus on the position closest to the center of the picture. Therefore, if the subject is not in the center and there are other objects between the cameras, please pay attention to the object that the camera focuses on.

If necessary, switch to a certain point (or similar position) for autofocus, and use the navigation button to set the autofocus point.

7. Shooting mode: "Single shot" (single sheet) and "continuous shooting" (continuous shooting)

When the camera is in "single shot" mode, press the shutter release button every time.

In continuous shooting mode, photos will continue to be taken until the release button or buffer or memory card is full.

This mode is useful when shooting moving objects, but in most cases, you only want to take one photo at a time.

8. Turn on the image stabilization function

The slight accidental movement of the camera may cause image blur, but the anti-shake system in the camera or lens can easily solve this problem.

It compensates for movement by moving sensors or components in the lens. Generally speaking, the stabilization system is very effective and can use a fairly long shutter speed.

If you take pictures by hand, you must turn on the anti-shake function, but please turn it off when installing the camera on the tripod.

9. Color space -Adobe RGB

Many cameras offer two color spaces to choose from: SRGB and Adobe RGB. Adobe RGB has a wider color range than SRGB. So, in most cases, it will be the best choice.

10, image style or optimized calibration

Most cameras can use the "photo style" function, photo management mode, color mode or film simulation mode to process images in many different ways.

There are usually several options. Includes an image that can produce a black-and-white (monochrome) image, another image that can increase saturation to make the image brighter, and another "landscape" that can enhance blue and green.

By default, the camera uses the standard option, which is usually suitable for most situations, so make sure that this option is installed.
