The master of Taixu passed away

On March 17, the thirty-sixth year of the Republic of China (1947), Taixu passed away in the Jade Buddha Temple in Shanghai. After the ceremony, more than 300 relics were obtained. Many relics were distributed in Xiamen. In the 37th year, his disciples Cai Jitang, Xu Xuanping, Yu Yu and others built a relic pagoda in the Banshan Hall on Huyuan Road. In 1984, it was moved to Taixu Platform on the top of Wulaofeng behind Nanputuo Temple. In front of the pavilion and behind the Taixu Terrace is a tower. There is a stone tablet in the pavilion, about 2 meters high, on which is engraved a portrait of Master Taixu by the contemporary painter Feng Zikai. The statue is solemn and peaceful, and its expression is lifelike. Under the portrait, there is an inscription written by Yu Yu, a great calligrapher, who inscribes the great virtue of the great master in this world.

The proud disciples of Master Taixu include Master Zhifeng, Master Fafang, Master Daxing and Master Fazun.
