Excel camera display errors and solutions -Excel camera -Excel learning network

If you have read my e-book "Making Dashboard Report with Excel", you will know that I am a loyal supporter of Excel camera tool. This is probably the most powerful little-known function of Excel. But unfortunately, it also smells like an off-road vehicle.

Camera objects (also called linked pictures) display a series of real-time pictures in Excel. In my electronic book, I used a whole chapter to tell how to use this excellent tool.

Before Excel 20 10, the most obvious mistake of Camera is that if the Camera object refers to a range containing a chart, when printing or printing a preview worksheet, the chart's? Drawing area? Will shrink to the size of an eraser.

The good news is that this error has been fixed in Excel 20 10. But the bad news is that other mistakes have replaced it.

This week, a reader sent me a workbook with a camera Bug I had never seen before. She produced an excellent inventory management dashboard report. The picture in this report includes a Camera object that refers to a range that contains a table containing the top 20 SKUs in this period.

But that's the problem: when the Camera object appears in her dashboard report, it displays the contents of rows and columns around the top 20 tables.

She sent me a copy of her exercise book, and then I started the experiment. I soon learned that the mistake only happened on her report worksheet. Obviously, some unique features of this worksheet have caused this error. So, in this worksheet, I?

Deleted all charts, text boxes and other objects except the offensive camera object. But the mistake still exists? Yes

Delete all formulas and values. But the mistake still exists? Yes

Delete all cell formats. But the mistake still exists? Yes

Set all rows and columns to the default settings. But the mistake still exists? Yes

Unmerge all merged cells? And fixed the error.

As it turns out, if? Camera? If the object appears below the merged cells in some rows of the worksheet, the object will have the problems she described.

Therefore, the safest way to avoid this problem in Excel 20 10 is to avoid merging the cells on the worksheet containing the Camera object.
