The Behind-the-scenes Story of Secretary Shanxiang

The film "The Secretary of a Mountain Village" is based on the advanced deeds of Liu Yinchang, an outstanding party worker and a model of grassroots cadres established by the Central Organization Department and secretary of the Party Committee of Guandian Town, Jianshi County, Hubei Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture. The whole film uses documentary techniques to create a vivid hero image, which is rare in China film industry.

The creation of the movie "The Secretary of the Mountain Village" can be described as painstaking efforts and striving for perfection. Eight writers from Beijing, Sichuan, Hunan, Inner Mongolia and Hubei have "written" many touching stories with their own actions in the process of experiencing mountain life and visiting the prototype of characters. For example, Peng Jingquan, a Hunan writer, went to the United States to give lectures, especially familiar with the life of Tujia people, and went deep into the "ladder" at an altitude of 2 kilometers with the crew to experience life on the spot and feel the status quo. Ye Mei, vice chairman of Hubei Writers Association and Tujia writer, was the deputy magistrate of Jianshi County. She is familiar with the performance of the prototype Liu Yinchang, and almost entered the creation with tears in her eyes. She said, "I finished the script with tears." Zhao Yuheng, director of the Literature Department of Inner Mongolia Film Studio, was appointed by the Film Script Planning Center of the State Film Bureau. When I entered the deep mountain for the second time to experience life, I suddenly suffered from heavy bleeding in my mouth and nose and was admitted to Hubei Union Medical College Hospital. After stopping bleeding, regardless of his weak body, he insisted on going deep into Guandian Town, Jianshi County, Enshi Prefecture to interview the prototype characters, and returned to Beijing to write literary plays on his deathbed. During the treatment, I still remember the creation process of the movie script.

Lu Le, the director of "The Secretary of the Mountain Village", studied under the famous directors Zhang Yimou and Gu Changwei in the Photography Department of Beijing Film Academy. He worked hard and led the film crew across two years, drove into the mountainous area of western Hubei, and successfully completed the shooting task in the heat and cold. In March 2004, he experienced life in Liziqiao Village, Guandian Town, Jianshi County, Enshi Prefecture, Hubei Province. He was moved by the sincerity and pragmatism of the mountain people and established a deep friendship with them. He was moved by the personality charm of Liu Yinchang, the prototype of the story, and deeply loved this person. Based on the motivation of life experience, he is determined to innovate the main theme, and wants to make the movie "Secretary of the Mountain Village" another work that can show a unique artistic style after the movie "Beautiful Grassland". In order to avoid slogan, behavior and high-profile artistic creation, Hero uses Xiong Bing, a member of Xuanen County Cultural and Art Troupe in Enshi Prefecture, Hubei Province. Most of the other actors and extras are selected from the local people, hoping to bring the audience into real life and strive to dedicate an innovative film style to the audience.
