White balance in photography

Color temperature:

Color temperature is a unit of measurement used to measure the color of light or light source, and the unit is expressed in K (Kelvin). Specifically, it is to continuously heat the "ideal blackbody" to make it emit the same temperature as the light source.

The color temperature of blue is high, about 8000K to 10000K, which is called "cool tone". The color temperature of yellow is low, about 2000K to 3000K, which is called "warm tone".

The following are the color temperature values of some common light sources:

Color temperature of light source (k)

Clear blue sky10000–20000

Blue sky and white clouds 8000–10000

Cloudy day 7000

Morning or afternoon sunshine 4000-5000

Dawn and dusk 2000-3000

Electronic flash 5500

Studio lamp 3400

Quartz lamp 3300

Tungsten lamp 3200

150W household light bulb 2800

Candlelight 1930

If you use different filters when shooting, you can adjust the color temperature value of the final image. In addition, images with different color temperature effects can be created by using the built-in white balance mode or image editing software of digital cameras.
