What is the grading system?

The grading system refers to that an organization divides the products of a film studio into several grades according to their contents according to certain principles, and stipulates the people that each grade is allowed to face. It has no national legal support, but it is binding in the industry. It only plays the role of reminding the audience. Give the audience the choice and the audience will protect themselves.

Canadian film grading system

With the popularity of Internet and multimedia, parents are deeply worried about how to judge whether any graphic materials are suitable for children to read. If parents are confused about this issue, they may wish to refer to the existing film and television grading system, some of which are worth learning. The principle of grading movies and videos and indicating which grades are "not suitable for children" is not simple, because the social norms in this regard are not static and will change with time. The Film Classification Office of British Columbia, Canada pointed out that when formulating classification principles, we should consider social development factors such as sociology, anthropology and psychology, refer to research reports on people's behavior response to watching media, and often observe relevant national legislation, measures and court precedents. In order to let people know about the changes of related concepts and systems.

At present, the classification of films and videos in British Columbia is managed according to the Film Act and the Film Ordinance. The level of division can be divided into three categories:

1. People of any age can watch unconditionally:

"Universal"-suitable for people of all ages.

"parental guidance" level-people of all ages are allowed to watch, but the theme and content may not be suitable for all children, so it is advisable to watch under the guidance of parents.

Two, allow children and adolescents to watch the conditions:

"Fourteen? Accompanying audience (14)-any audience under 14 must be accompanied by an adult; And warned parents that the film may contain violence, vulgar language or * related content.

"Eighteen years old? Accompanying reading level (18 accompanying reading)-any audience under 18 must be accompanied by an adult; And strongly warned parents that the film may contain obvious violence, frequent swearing, * behavior or horror content.

Three, absolutely not allowed to watch children and adolescents:

Restricted level-only 18 years old or older can watch it. The film may contain obvious * or violent content; However, the classification authorities still hold a positive view on this kind of films, which may have certain artistic, historical, political, educational or scientific value.

"Adults"-Only 18 years old or older can watch it. The film may contain obvious * or violent content; The grading authorities did not express a positive view on this, but thought it was tolerable by the public.
