Activities of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing in China

The International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) was founded in 19 10, which is an international academic organization with a history of one hundred years. The first international photogrammetry conference 19 13 was held in Vienna, Austria. 1980 At the 14 International Photogrammetry Conference held in Hamburg, West Germany, China Surveying and Mapping Society was accepted as a member, representing China as a national member of the organization. This is the first time that China sent a delegation to attend the International Photogrammetry Conference. At this meeting, the name of the organization was changed from the International Society for Photogrammetry to the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.

1984 15 the international conference on photogrammetry and remote sensing was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Chinese Surveying and Mapping Society sent a delegation with Professor Wang as the vice chairman to show the situation and achievements of surveying and mapping research, education, production and instrument manufacturing in China at the science and technology exhibition. This is the first time that China systematically demonstrated and publicized the development of photogrammetry and remote sensing in China at an international conference.

16 the international conference on photogrammetry and remote sensing was held in Kyoto, Japan on 1988. At this meeting, China made two remarkable achievements: First, Professor Wang became an honorary member of the International Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing. According to the articles of association, the total number of honorary members at the same time shall not exceed 7. Those who have won this honor are internationally renowned and contributed senior photogrammetry and remote sensing scientists and activists of the society, and they can only take over after the death of the original members. Second, Professor Li Deren from Wuhan Technical University of Surveying and Mapping was elected as the chairman of the third committee.

1992 17 the international conference on photogrammetry and remote sensing was held in Washington, USA. At this conference, China expressed his intention to bid for the ISPRS conference for the first time.

In July 2000, the 19 International Conference on Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing was held in the Netherlands, and a delegation headed by Professor Yang Kai was formed in China. At this conference, China made the first sprint to bid for the ISPRS conference, with the predetermined goal of winning the right to host the 20th conference in 2004. In the competition for the leadership of the Technical Committee of the International Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, Professor Chen Jun of the National Basic Geographic Information Center was elected as the chairman of the second Committee.

At the 20th International Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing Conference held in Istanbul in July 2004, China successfully won the right to host the 2nd1International Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing Conference in 2008. Professor Chen Jun was elected as the president of the 2 1 Congress and joined the executive board of ISPRS. The "King Award" was also added to commemorate Academician Wang, the founder of China Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing and honorary member of the International Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing Society.
