Simple processing skills in the later stage of photography
Get simple processing skills in the later stage of photography? Permeability? The trick is to illuminate the dark part, not burn the bright part.
I don't know if it has ever occurred to you that the dark parts can actually be brightened, at least visually. In the previous section, we demonstrated how to achieve visual enhancement of dark details through shadow clipping, and this section will demonstrate how to achieve transparency of high-profile photos by pushing dark parts to bright parts.
Reed in the sunset. The original picture of the fuselage is straight out. The dim darkness made the whole photo lifeless.
The picture above is the first photo to be demonstrated. Time is still dusk, the most suitable golden moment for photography, and the main body is a clump of reeds. The sunset and the background sky constitute the bright part of the whole photo, because only yellow can be preserved in a fairly high brightness, so the sunset hangs in the air like a golden plate, and there is nothing to emphasize in the bright part. So the first step to adjust the bright part is to restore the details of the sunset as much as possible, but such efforts are doomed to fail in most cases, and this time is no exception.
Will. Exposure? Down to -0.30, Will? Recover? By 33, only limited sunset details were restored. It is of little significance to continue the adjustment, because it is difficult to further improve the visual effect, which will only cause greater pressure on the adjustment of the dark part, and the reed in the dark part is the main body of the whole photo. I didn't adjust? Brightness? Because for bright parts, brightness? There is nothing to adjust. I'm not sure how to adjust at this time. Brightness? It will be beneficial to the subsequent adjustment of the dark part.
The second step requires a drastic transformation of the dark part. Because there is almost nothing to strengthen in the bright part, and the main body is concentrated in the dark part, it is not too much to strengthen the dark part.
There is no doubt that the dark part will determine the tone of the whole photo. If you want to create a feeling of depression, there is no doubt that you should keep the whole reed dark. But I don't think this tone is suitable for this photo, and the bright tone may be more in line with the artistic conception of this photo. This means that the dark part of the reed should not only increase the contrast, but also increase the brightness on a large scale.
You may think of increasing first? Brightness? To control the brightness of the dark part, but all you have to do is try to adjust it? Brightness? It can be found that this is not desirable, which not only makes the sunset lose almost all the details, but also fails to create the contrast between light and shade that the dark part should have.
Where is the mystery hidden? Fill with light? And then what? Black? Among the twin brothers, if you are brave enough, slide these two sliders to the right, and miracles will happen. Not only will the original dark low elements disappear, but the bright ones will be added at once? Permeability? . This not only benefits from the illusion that the dark details are visually increased, but also benefits from the expansion of the tonal range occupied by the whole dark part.
Final? Fill with light? The value is 65. Black? The value of is 6 1.
The final effect is shown in the above picture, which further improves the color and overall contrast.
The second step is mainly the change of ideas. How to adjust it? Fill with light? And then what? Black? It's not the point, because the latter is just a means, not an end. Figure 4.22 is a high-profile photo. It is really strange that the focus of getting high-value photos is in the dark, not in the bright. This may be another illusion, because if you look at the brightness value of the reed, you will find that the reed is still in the darkest tone range in the whole photo. But now I need this illusion. Next, through the post-processing of two photos to illustrate, high-profile photos? Permeability? The gain lies in the correct adjustment of the dark part, not the bright part.
The picture above shows a lotus flower. It's all in the original picture? Turbid? I don't feel refreshed at all. When you open the RAW file with ACR, you will find that some highlights overflow, especially the blooming lotus stamens are the main body; But the dark exposure is perfect, and all the details are preserved, which will bring great convenience to the later adjustment.
The first step, restore the highlight overflow part, put? Exposure? It is about -0. 15. Recover? Increased to 14, basically restored all the necessary bright details.
Is it time to adjust? Brightness? It's hard to say, because at present, only the overflow problem is found in the bright part, and other problems are not obvious, but there will still be problems here. Brightness? Down to 44, purely based on empirical judgment. It is considered that there is no harm in slightly improving the contrast of the bright part. The adjustment here has not brought any obvious visual changes, so we need to look forward to the second adjustment.
The second part is the most important step. The adjustment of the dark part will determine the tone of this photo. Here we need a bright transparency. For this photo, the adjustment of the dark part needs more courage than that in Figure 4.20. So is Will. Fill with light? The value of is adjusted to 87. Black? The value of is adjusted to 84 (see Figure 4.24). Actually, it doesn't matter which value it is, you just need to increase it. Fill with light? Increase at the same time? Black? Then just keep staring at the monitor until you feel that you are in a suitable position. This is the value you need.
This effect is only? Fill with light? And then what? Black? I don't know what the fundamental principle is, but I am willing to enjoy the benefits it brings.
The last photo in this section is about portraits. This is an environmental photo, and the brightness of the face obviously needs to be brightened. Although the sky from the sparse leaves is completely full, we don't have to pay attention to it.
So for portraits, the adjustment of the bright part will mainly depend on the needs of the face, so what will be the first step? Exposure? Increase it to 0.55 to make the face a little brighter (at this time, the face is not bright enough because we know the next step? Fill with light? Will further increase the brightness value of the face). In the meantime, to be on the safe side, will? Recover? Of course, it is slightly raised to 7, right? Recover? Adjustment is dispensable.
?
Because the range of hue occupied by the face is narrow enough, there is no further increase? Brightness? Thereby compressing the tonal range of the face. At this time, the effect is limited, because I know that the required effect will depend on the adjustment of the dark part in the second step.
You should already know how to do the second step. The only difference may be the choice. Fill with light? The value of is 48. Black? The value of is 18.
The second step is to cut out a little shadow, hoping to enhance the expected effect. I think it really enhances some dark details? Permeability? The reason for this can be found in the previous section.
