Behind-the-scenes production of Chibi

Hard shooting

"Red Cliff" has suffered a lot since its preparation. Because I didn't quite agree with the director's idea, I changed the martial arts director to Yuan Kui halfway, and some previous plays had to be remake. Due to the schedule, photographer Lu Le had to leave the group. In particular, Chow Yun Fat broke the contract halfway, scenery, clothing and so on. It had to be redesigned because of the change of the protagonist. In addition, the film was originally scheduled to be filmed in the Yangtze River in Hubei before shooting, but it had to be filmed temporarily in Hebei studio because of environmental problems; The heavy rain during shooting stopped shooting again and again; The plane crashed; A fire broke out during the make-up, and 1 the staff was killed.

Shoot a war scene

The camp that Cao Jun built in Hebei before filming the war drama, as well as the reservoir used to shoot the water war and its surrounding mountains, have also been taken to the later computer special effects department to make a three-dimensional model map and brought back to the United States. Because the mountains in the north are completely different from those in the south of the Yangtze River, they should be synthesized by computer.

During the filming, about 2000 warships with various ancient props gathered in a reservoir surrounded by mountains in Hebei Province to shoot big scenes. Wu Yusen will combine three-dimensional computer technology to turn this reservoir into the Yangtze River and the surrounding mountains into Chibi. Five famous computer stunt companies in the United States will be responsible for the computer animation part of the film.

Since 2004, the producers of script creation have been looking for excellent screenwriters, brainstorming and determining the initial script outline. Battle of Red Cliffs's story is divided into six sections, namely, Liu Bei's virtue for the people, Er Qiao's righteousness for laying down his life, Kong Yu's encouragement, Zhou Yu's use of the knife to kill people, Kong Ming's use of the arrow of a straw boat and the east wind to burn Chibi. Director John Woo was not satisfied after reading it. He hoped that the characters in Battle of Red Cliffs would change: Liu Bei was no longer weak, Cao Cao was no longer treacherous, and Zhou Yu was no longer narrow-minded. So in 2006, John Woo invited another screenwriter in the film circle, Reed, to polish the existing script, which has been changed from Reed's hand to the ninth draft.
