Matamata is the Hobbit village of The Shire in the fantasy blockbuster "The Lord of the Rings Trilogy" and its prequel "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" main location. In the film, the Waikato town of Matamata is portrayed as an almost isolated hobbit village.

It is said that Peter Jackson, the director of "The Lord of the Rings", started looking for a location in 1999, and finally found a place that could recreate the customs of seven thousand years ago - New Zealand. When the director and crew saw the rural village of Matamata in New Zealand's North Island, they immediately decided it would be the perfect setting for The Hobbiton.

In order to present the leisurely pastoral life of the Hobbits in the book, the film crew went to the farm to plant 5,000 square meters of vegetables and flower beds one year before the filming of the film, so that they could have enough time. It grows naturally, so the Hobbit Village in the movie is a completely "real" beauty. Even the doors, fences, and houses of the dwarfs' homes in the play are all real scenes.
