Professional film review "The Bicycle Stealer"

The Bicycle Stealer is an outstanding representative work of Italian neo-realism.

The Bicycle Stealer is a classic of Italian neo-realism movies and one of the top ten immortal movies in the world movie history, which represents the aesthetic characteristics of neo-realism. The film touches the life of the lower classes in Italy;

It profoundly reflects the social reality of Italy. Its structure is unique, and the actors' performances are real and natural, which makes the film look more real and friendly. There are no tears in the film, but it is more heartbreaking than the works that sell bitterness in later generations. It is an outstanding representative of Italian new realism.

The story happened in Rome after World War II. There are crowds in front of the employment agency, and countless people are waiting for work. Anton, who has been idle for two years, was finally introduced to the advertising post office, but on one condition, he must have a bike to work. My wife pawned all the sheets at home before redeeming the pawned bike. The next morning, my son Bruno cleaned his father's bike and his wife prepared lunch for him.

Anton received the task on the advertising poster, and an experienced worker pointed out the main points of his work and let him work alone. While Anton was working, a young man galloped away on a bicycle parked on the side of the road. Anton chased after him, but was disturbed by the eyeliner and lost his target. Anton reported the case to the police, but he couldn't get any help. He had to ask his friends for help. My friend suggested going to the bicycle market early the next morning, because the car thief might get rid of it there.

The next morning, Anton took his son and friends to the bicycle market. I looked for it, but there was no result. They went to another bicycle market to continue their search. I don't want a heavy rain to disturb the market. When the father and son were huddled under the eaves to shelter from the rain, they found that the young man who stole the bicycle was talking to an old beggar not far away. Anton ran after him and the man ran away by bike. Anton hurried back to find the old beggar and asked about his boy's whereabouts.

The old beggar refused to answer. Anton and his son watched him closely and came to a church. Anton repeatedly asked the old beggar to accompany him to find a young man. In desperation, the old beggar told him an address, but refused to accompany him. Their quarrel attracted church staff, and the old beggar took the opportunity to slip away.

According to the address provided by the old beggar, the father and son came to a poor community, where they met the guy who stole the car. The young man ran when he saw them, and Anton pulled the young man into the street. I didn't expect the onlookers to be his neighbors, when the young man twitched. Residents forgave the young man and accused and threatened Anton, although Bruno could do nothing when he called the police. Faced with hostile eyes, Anton had to give up.

Father and son walked back in frustration. When passing by the street, Anton saw a bicycle parked in the street somewhere, and an idea flashed through his mind.

He sent his son home in a hurry and rode his bike secretly, only to be found by the owner, caught by passers-by and sent to the police station. Bruno, who was waiting for the bus in the street, saw all this and ran over, shouting "Dad" while desperately pulling his father. The host saw Bruno crying and asked everyone to let Anton go.

Anton walked down the street coldly, and Bruno held his father's hand tightly. Seeing his son around, Anton shed tears and squeezed his son's hand. The father and son disappeared into the vast crowd.
