White balance application skills

Lead: Whether taking landscape photos, portraits or product photos, as long as you take color photos, you will definitely come into contact with the "white balance" setting. Most novice photographers will only set the important option of white balance to "automatic", which is really a pity. Let's take a look at the skills of using white balance.

(a) Quickly understand what white balance is.

White balance /WB is an important setting in a camera, and it is one of the most commonly used options after aperture, shutter and ISO. Setting "white balance" in the camera is to tell the camera what color the spotlight is, instead of asking the camera to directly change the photo to a specified tone. Please remember!

Example: The scene is yellow, and the camera is set to "tungsten lamp", which means telling the camera: "The scene is yellow tungsten lamp, please correct this hue and change it back to normal color! In this way, the photos won't turn yellow.

(B) Play white balance, sometimes not so "accurate."

From the first point, you can see that we can set the color of the photo by white balance, so that the photo can be changed back to normal "white", but in fact, many times we don't have to be so obedient. On the contrary, we especially want to set the white balance to a tone to enhance the effect. Look at the following example:

Turn ordinary sunlight into sunset atmosphere:

Turn the dull night view of the city into a cold feeling for the future;

(3) Accurately set the white balance through the value of k..

To have an ideal tone in the early shooting, you can set the K value through the white balance option of the camera (some beginners may not have this option), and setting it to "low K value" can make the photo cool; Setting the "high k value" can make the photos warmer. Using this method of setting the value of k can accurately adjust the appropriate white balance for the current environment. Students must make good use of it!

(4) Fine-tune the color at will through the RAW file.

If you don't set the white balance or want to change the color in the previous shooting, you can save the photo as a RAW file when shooting, so you can change the white balance at will after opening the RAW file in Photoshop, just like in the previous shooting, which is very convenient!
