Wuhan is located in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, in the east of Jianghan Plain, with the easternmost point in Jiangjun Village, Xugu Town, Xinzhou District, the westernmost point in Guoguang Village, caidian district Dwarf Street, the southernmost point in Junbao Village, Hu Si Street, Jiangxia District, and the northernmost point in Li Chong Village, Caidian Street, huangpi district.

The total area of Wuhan is 8494.4 1 km2, accounting for 4.6% of the area of Hubei province. The circumference of the city is 977.28km, the area of seven central urban areas is 863km2, and the built-up area is 552.38+0km2.

Wuhan is high in the east and low in the west, high in the south and low in the north, and is cut into three Y-shaped pieces by the Yangtze River and the Han River. There are nearly east-west banded hills in the south of Wuhan, surrounded by dense dendritic gullies, and nearly 100 lakes spread all over the country, forming a complex terrain with developed water system and mixed mountains and rivers.
