Text/Half an orange @ Half a study

Brief introduction of proposal

Xiao Quan's Our Generation is an image file of famous cultural and artistic figures born in the 1950s and 1960s in China. Concerned about the fate of his contemporaries, Xiao Quan visited artists, writers and musicians scattered all over China.

The portraits in the book are all elites or hot celebrities in the literary and art circles today: Cui Jian, Wang Anyi, Zhang Chengzhi, Jia Pingwa, Wang Shuo, Yang li Ping, Tan Dun, Zhang Yimou, Jiang Wen, Chen Danqing ... He witnessed the survival of this generation and reflected their sufferings and joys, hesitation and persistence. They are a generation that still pursues their dreams and struggles with their destiny in an unpretentious era.

Research recommendation

Recently, Xu Anhua's "Golden Age" will be released soon. She said it was the golden age of modern literati. The golden age of modern literati and artists in China is the time when Xiao Quan's book was filmed. In the 1990s, poems by Gu Cheng and Bei Dao were very popular at that time. Zhang Yimou and Jiang filmed Alive and Sunny Day, Yu Hua and Wang Anyi wrote Xu Sanguan's Blood Selling Story and Song of Eternal Sorrow, and danced peacock dance. Dou Wei and Cui Jian sang Rock in the New Era.

Under Xiao Quan's lens, they are either quiet, or ostentatious, or painful, or thinking. But under the black and white photos, one thing is similar, that is, their eyes are firm and they feel that they have the power to see through this era and penetrate people's hearts. Xiao Quan's book is not only a collection of his photographic works, but also a record of the creation of this generation, which records the mood when these photos were taken and the interaction between the characters in the photos, and these words have also become the records of that era.

They were all in high spirits and worried about the future. As a passage in Wang Xiaobo's masterpiece "Golden Age" said: "I was twenty-one years old that day. In the golden age of my life, I had many extravagant hopes. I want to love, I want to eat, and I want to instantly become a half-bright and half-dark cloud in the sky. "

Pictures and text excerpts from the book

Gu Cheng and his wife, Xie Ye poet.

Before he left, I took many photos of Gu Cheng and Xie Ye in their room, and Gu Cheng danced with joy. He said, I like taking pictures best. My hat was given to me by an old American lady.

We had a good time in the park. North Island, like a child, ran a few steps and sat on the grass for me to take pictures. Gu Cheng and Xie Ye are hanging baskets made of withered vines around their necks in the bamboo forest.

Attend to city looked at the owner of the big saw, staring. He told me that I especially like the sawdust of these new saws. I often spread them in my palm, feeling that these are all new students!

After Gu Cheng returned to Beijing, he sent me his poetry collection "Black Eyes", leaving two lines: Those flowers have gone far. For Xiao Quan. 1987 65438+ 10 month, Beijing.

Cui Jian rock singer

Cui Jian saw my photo and said she liked it. What he likes best is a small sample: a pupil sitting cross-legged on the ground, holding his face in his hands and staring at the performance on the stage with wide eyes. Behind him is a row of serious public security soldiers.

Cui Jian and Wang Xiaojing and I went to the TV station to get the video. In front of the TV station, I saw an old wall and the V-shape of the TV, which just combined wonderfully, so I asked Lao Cui to get off and take a photo.

Cui Jian wanted to think, and got off. I picked up the machine and pressed 2 1, and Lao Cui kept changing positions. A minute later, I knew that a good photo had just been born.

Director Zhang Yimou.

1995 One night in March, Zhang Yimou and I took a taxi back to his house.

Our car crossed Chang 'an Avenue and headed for the southern suburbs. Zhang Yimou took off his warm military coat and wore a black leather vest, looking very energetic. This is the first time in six months that I have been alone with Zhang Yimou for such a long time. The play is over. What's your next plan? He asked me. I have a plan. I want to photograph some people I have photographed all my life. Zhang Yimou is also very interested in this. He asked me what I wanted to shoot.

Cui Jian, Chen Kaige, Jiang Wen and you. He nodded in agreement.

Rent a car and park at the garden gate of a villa. Zhang Yimou told me not to reveal his secret residence. He knows that I have many friends as journalists.

This is a very spacious, comfortable and gorgeous house. I don't know why, I took off my shoes and walked into the room with him, stepping on the clean and cold wooden floor, feeling sour: Zhang Yimou finally had his own "nest".

A week later, I returned to the studio with two boxes of photos and all the negatives. Zhang Yimou hummed a tune and classified the pictures with me. He looked at these thousands of pictures and said, you see, I was quite young when I first turned on my mobile phone. How can I be so old after the filming? Then I smiled again, and a bunch of wrinkles appeared on my face.
