Historical origin:

Originated in England, originated in the 15th century. Most authorities believe it originated in Japan or China. A very ancient breed with a natural aristocratic temperament, showing true nobility and royal style. Long-haired beagles were very common in European courts in the 17th century. The Cavalier King Charles Dog often appeared in various oil paintings at the time. It was deeply loved by King Charles I and Charles II, so it was named after King Charles.

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is the favorite dog of the British royal family and is loved by Mary, Queen of Scots and Charles II.
