How to take more creative photos?
In this article, you will see standard photos and then how to make more creative pictures of famous landmarks. You will see such a case to study how to shoot a specific landmark in different ways.
This photo was taken in Kuala Lumpur Commercial Hotel. The picture shows the Twin Towers.
1- standard photo
Before taking more creative landmark photos, our goal is to make the best standard photos.
When you know which landmark you want to take, the next step is to find out where the photo was taken. If the same photo is taken many times, there will probably be an observation deck nearby.
When you find the right place, you should write photos. If you can use a slightly different composition, you'd better try shooting vertically.
The last step is to make sure that you have a good image processing process after returning to China. Surrounding images allow you to use creative post-processing techniques (such as digital blending) when the sky is brighter than the foreground. Alternatively, you can use a gradient medium density filter and expose the camera correctly with a single frame.
2- Draw creative images of landmarks with lights.
This photo shows how to use light painting to create your own image.
One of the most creative things you can do in photography is light painting. There are several forms of this technology, each of which can bring you dramatic results.
This is the result of innovation, it will be your own, and it is difficult for others to copy. Let's look at different forms of light painting. You can try.
Light painting-most people know that light painting is to write your name in front of the camera with a flashlight. How to add creative edges around an iconic light painting? Those who are really interested should consider buying pixelstick.
Animated light painting-this refers to moving the camera, not the light source. Examples of dynamic light painting are camera rotation and scaling pulses.
Illuminate objects-You can illuminate a landmark with a strong flashlight, as long as it is not too far away. Lighting a landmark can make it stand out in the frame.
Camera rotation is a good way to make creative pictures of landmarks.
3- Infrared photos of landmarks
Use infrared photography technology to make iconic images! There are several ways to achieve this effect. You can choose a camera or post-processing.
Classic infrared photos show a lot of leaves, the sky and usually water. The influence of the darkening of the sky creates the image of a dream, and the leaves are white. Infrared photography is best in sunny days, with a few clouds to create more fun.
Here are three ways to take these photos with a digital camera.
Take a normal photo and post-process it to make the image look like an infrared photo.
Add an infrared filter in front of the camera. In order to get the infrared effect, you need to put your files and programs on the computer.
Put away your camera body, infrared photography is available, and further processing is needed.
Although this photo uses the same composition as above, it changes the mood by using infrared technology.
4- Get photos of these details!
It's a good idea to take detailed photos of some landmarks. These photos are texture images and often use repeated patterns. When shooting landmark buildings, whether old or new, bricks or glass windows can be used to make these texture photos.
Naturally occurring photos also have good details. For example, the cliff surface may have good lines and textures. The purpose of this kind of photos is to show the details, but at the same time, it can also clearly show the landmarks you have taken. This may be the unique structure of a particular landmark.
When shooting glass windows, are there any reflective photos in these windows? When shooting landmarks, we always try to get detailed photos to add more varied photo sets.
Creative images of landscapes can be realized by using detailed photos. The metal structure of the tower and the Malaysian flag provide the background.
5- Reflect another world
Another way to produce unique landscape images is to use refraction. To do this, you need a transparent spherical object, and several options are available. The best object to produce this effect is crystal glass, crystal ball or transparent marble filled with water.
This is a good way to capture large-area scenes, and the effect of refracting objects is similar to that of fisheye lenses. The image inside the ball will be upside down, so it is important to manage this aspect of the photo. This technology is very interesting, although you need to carry a heavy glass ball to be taxed.
Refraction is a good way to produce unique images, and it is also a reflection.
6- Artistic Effect of Long-term Exposure
A good way to create a creative image of landmarks is to play long exposure. This is a variable that can achieve great artistic effect in different ways. Long-distance exposure at dusk or night is common, but using neodymium filter will make you exposed for a long time during the day.
There are three ways to use long exposure:
Car light tracking-this is a form of light drawing. In this case, the headlights will pass through your frame on the road you are shooting.
Movement of clouds-If there are clouds in the sky and they are moving fast enough, you can capture this movement with long exposure.
Moving water-similar to the cloud moving above, but with water! The theme is of course your landmark, but if there is water near the landmark, make good use of it.
All good landscape photographers wear tripods, and anyone who plans such photos needs one. Your exposure time ranges from 1 sec to several minutes.
Long-term exposure of car light marks is the main content of photography. The road here leads to the Petronas Towers on the horizon.
7- change your point of view
The angle of the landmark you take has a great influence on the photos you take. Today's sky is really limited, because the cost photos allowed by drones in the past are out of reach.
However, by changing your vantage point, drones are not the only way to get good photos. The standard photo is at street (eye) level, so any change will change the type of photo.
Aerial view-this photo was taken from a very favorable place, where you will take a picture down. The most extreme example is a drone, or an airplane.
Worm's perspective-as opposed to a bird's eye view, this is looking up from the street. You need to be close to the landmark you shot.
The challenge is to find a good location for your landmark landscape. In the city, this means entering the roof or observation deck. In more rural environments, this means climbing mountains!
Worm eyes can give you different styles of photos.
