202 1 german art study abroad application conditions and portfolio preparation guide
Professional requirements
1. The first requirement for studying art is that you have majored in related majors in universities before coming to China.
For example, painting is a student of the former Academy of Fine Arts; Arts and crafts include domestic majors such as design, decoration, clothing, environmental art, product modeling or photography. The basic requirement is that you have studied for more than two years or graduated, and there is no age limit. Old students in their thirties and forties are not uncommon in German universities, but older students often take this as a hobby.
2. The basic criteria for submitting works are
25-30 recent works, it is best to stay away from business and reflect culture and art, such as architectural drawings or commodity packaging that you have designed or participated in before, are not good works. Pure painting or cultural public service advertisements are the best. You can provide what you appreciate. It is best to use the original, other forms such as photos or copies, videos, CDs, etc. It is also acceptable.
3. Notarization materials are the same as applying for other majors.
Most majors require proof of German hours, but they are not as strict as other majors. Although there are language tests after coming, they are all relatively easy, that is, the DSH standard of art is much lower than that of ordinary majors. Some schools do not use DSH, but take other name language tests as German proficiency tests. Some majors have no language requirements. For example, product modeling or fashion design (both modeling majors) need to take language tests, but pure art or visual communication does not. You can even bring an interpreter to take the exam.
When you are ready, you should send the notarized materials and works to the foreign affairs office.
Like other university programs, the Foreign Affairs Office will transfer the works to the relevant professors for review after reviewing the materials, and will send you an admission notice soon. It should be noted that art majors basically enroll students only once a year, mostly in winter and a few in summer.
Application process
China high school graduates and undergraduates are eligible to apply directly for admission to the German University of Arts. Students applying for the German Academy of Arts need to have certain language requirements. For example, Berlin White Lake College of Art requires applicants to have the level of German A2 when applying, while Brunswick College of Plastic Arts needs the proof of B2 hours when applying.
In addition to language requirements, students also need to provide their own portfolios. Students should make a portfolio according to the specific requirements of the school and mail it to the school for grading. If the portfolio meets the requirements of the school, the school will issue an invitation letter to the applicant.
Applicants need to take an on-site exam in Germany. If you pass the on-site exam, the school will issue an admission notice. However, the admission notice will indicate the language requirements at the time of admission, and some schools still have high language requirements. For example, the Brunswick School of Plastic Arts requires German to reach the level of Telford 16 or DSH2 when it is admitted.
