Elementary course of time-lapse shooting skills

A beginner's tutorial on time-lapse shooting skills is a set of photos or videos.

Later, through photo mosaic or video frame extraction,

Minutes, hours or even days or years are compressed in a short time and played in the form of video.

The technique of reproducing the normal changing process of the scene with obviously changing video.

In time-lapse photography video, the slow change of an object or scene is compressed in a very short time, presenting a strange and wonderful scene that is usually imperceptible to the naked eye.

Using time-lapse photography in various films can often produce a wait-and-see effect.

Whether it's nature documentaries, life dramas, movies, simple feature films, etc.

You can see time-lapse photography,

Time-lapse photography can be regarded as the opposite of high-speed photography.

Usually used to shoot urban scenery, natural scenery, astronomical phenomena, urban life, architectural manufacturing, biological evolution and other topics.

Delayed cable release

Main equipment: tripod, SLR camera.

Auxiliary equipment: delay track, timing cable release, filter, etc.

single lens reflex

When using a SLR camera to delay shooting, it is necessary to take a series of photos at equal intervals, and it is impossible to completely press the shutter by hand (the interval accuracy is not high).

Many SLR cameras don't have interval shooting function, so they need the help of timing. Of course, you can also crack the magic lamp firmware, which I don't recommend here.

Delay orbit

At present, the photographic track equipped with stepping motor and shutter controller is relatively mature. Through precise electronic instrument calculation and precise mechanical control, the camera can take a picture at regular intervals on the track, thus achieving the purpose of moving photography.

Time-delay tracking is a professional time-delay shooting equipment, which will be introduced in detail later.

filter

There are three commonly used filters: neodymium mirror, color filter and star-awn mirror.

ND mirror: filters light and reduces the amount of light entering the lens.

Neodymium mirror

Color filter: adjust the color of the subject.

color filter

Star mirror: adjust the spot shape.

tripod

The platform used by the camera for stable shooting In time-lapse photography, any slight jitter may cause the jitter and shaking of the video picture in the later period. The tripod is used to control the stability of the shooting picture.

Tripod is an indispensable part of large-scale mobile delay.

The camera must be firmly fixed on a solid tripod to avoid the camera shaking caused by wind, vibration and other factors and make the shooting fail.

The spare battery must be ready. Time-lapse shooting usually takes several hours or even more than ten hours at a time. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare enough accessories according to the shooting time calculated by the required materials. If conditions permit, it is best to turn on the alternating current to shoot.

Fuselage setting

M file, ISO manual, the aperture should not be too small (although a small aperture can obtain a large depth of field, it often brings dust and light diffraction on the lens).

F9 upward is a suitable aperture value. Manual white balance is the best, although photos in RAW format are generally taken. Close the fuselage for high-sensitivity noise reduction, with hidden compensation, etc.

Note: in many occasions where the light changes strongly, such as sunrise and sunset, adjust the exposure according to your own experience.

Shooting time

Shooting duration (minutes) = interval time (seconds)? 24? What is the final length of the fragment? 60。

Number of lenses =24? The length (in seconds) of the final required fragment.

For example, if you finally want a 20-second time-lapse video clip with an interval of 3 seconds, then the shooting time is:

3? 24? 20? 60=24 (minutes), and the number of shots is 20? 24=480.

Note: Generally, shoot as much as possible, leaving enough space for later special videos.

post production

Import the original film into LR or PS for color matching, and use batch processing to use the same operation for the whole photo.

After the processing is completed, PR and AE can be used for synthesis, and we will introduce AE in detail below.

After opening the software, double-click the material area to import the material, and remember to click the sequential import.

(Note, you must choose the order of import, otherwise the imported materials are all pictures of today. )

If the material is interrupted again in the process, carefully check whether the file name is continuous, and then right-click on the material-analyze the material-set the frame number to 24 frames per second.

Then drag the material to the workspace.

(If you need to stabilize the material, you can use the command deformation stabilizer that comes with AE to add it to the fragments. )

Then output the video, put different time-lapse shots together to edit and score, and get a complete work.
