Photography issue 186: What does DX on Nikon lens mean?

# Nikon

The DX on the lens is a format, and Nikon DX format refers to the 23.7* 15.6MM image sensor used by Nikon digital SLR cameras.

In addition to DX nikkor lens, Nikon DX digital SLR cameras are also compatible with nikkor lens in 35MM( 135) format. DX is non-Quan Huafu, that is to say, the CMOS or CCD of DX format camera is not as big as the original 135 film, and the film size of 135 camera is 24 * 36 mm.

DX Nikon lens is the non-Quan Huafu symbol of APS, which is only suitable for non-full-frame cameras, but it can also be used when screwed on a full-frame camera, that is, there are dark corners at the wide-angle end, which means DX is the specific symbol of Nikon's half-frame sensor, and the lens model with DX does not support Quan Huafu, so it belongs to a small-field lens.

Although DX lens positioning is relatively low-end, Nikon's advanced lens technology is also widely used in such products. For example, ultrasonic motor focusing technology, VR anti-shake technology and ED special lens processing technology will not shrink.

The focal length of DX lens is fixed, and the focal length is not lengthened or shortened. Just because the photosensitive element of DX camera needs to be multiplied by 1.5, it is equivalent to the full size of 35, so the viewing angle of photos presented on the photosensitive element through the lens should also be multiplied by 1.5. 90mm times 1.5= 135mm viewing angle.
