How to control the screen tone

Tone is to photography what tone is to music. Tone has two meanings, one refers to the basis of the photo, and the other refers to the transition order of the tone of the photo. Judging from the tone, the tone usually has high-key, low-key and midrange. High-key gives people a light and pure feeling, low-key gives people a heavy and depressing texture, alto gives people a natural masculine beauty, and the tone has a feminine beauty. Tone has a strong emotional expression, and different tones will cause different visual and psychological sounds of the audience, which will eventually produce different emotional associations. Therefore, it is inevitable to grasp and control the tone of works in photography, and the specific methods are as follows:

1, subject and background tone selection: background tone selection is the decisive factor of tone control. Take high-profile photos, be sure to choose a light background; Take low-key photos, be sure to choose a dark background; When taking a halftone photo, you should choose a halftone background or a light tone background.

2. Treatment and application of light: From the light point of view, its light level, light quality and light intensity will all affect the tone effect. Generally speaking, strong light should be used for hard tone effect and soft light should be used for soft tone effect. Side lighting is used for hard tones, and smooth or scattered lighting is used for soft tones.

3. Exposure control: In tone control, exposure plays a role in strengthening or weakening the hard tone effect. According to practical experience, when taking high-profile photos, the exposure is 0.5 level more than the accurate exposure, which makes the subject and background slightly overexposed, which can better preserve the "high-profile" photos; When shooting low-key photos, the exposure is 0.5 level less than the accurate exposure, which makes the subject and background slightly underexposed, and can better preserve the "low-key" photos.

4. Selection of filter: Because the filter has different filtering characteristics for different light, the local contrast and tone of the picture can be changed by using the filter.
