Whose work was the Bronze Age?

Bronze Age, bronze, 1.74m high, created by French sculptor Rodin Yu 1876- 1877, now located in Luxembourg, France.

1870 When the Franco-Prussian War broke out, Rodin was drafted into the army with blind nationalism and patriotism, and retired home after illness. Rodin, penniless, once carved the name of his teacher, Cariel Behles, on his statue in order to make money, and was found out and driven out of the studio. A man who also studied in Bells Studio pulled him to make some traditional statues and sold them for money. Soon, Rodin was disgusted with all this. He wants to escape and breathe some real artistic air. He used what little money he had to go to Holland and Italy, where he was moved by Michelangelo. The long-simmering creative impulse in his heart finally broke out. He rushed back to Belgium and spent 18 months carving a man's body. He asked a beautiful young soldier to be his model. He made the statue with a stick in his left hand. When he was walking, he was suddenly shocked by what he saw. He stopped, looked up and stared, pulling his hair with his right hand. Very naive and natural. Rodin's The Naked Man is endowed with ordinary human nature, showing people's anxiety, shyness and awe. It is as big as a real person, and Rodin originally named it "the conquered".

After the failure of the exhibition, Van Raspur encouraged him and suggested that Rodin cancel the stick and rename it the Bronze Age. It should be said that this name is very appropriate and gives the statue a new meaning. It shows the transition from primitive society to bronze age, and it symbolizes "the dawn of mankind" or "the awakening of mankind". The sculptor really created a symmetrical and perfect young male body. His posture is very natural and vivid, with his left leg supporting the whole body, his right leg slightly bent and his toes slightly touching the ground. The left hand is like holding a stick, and the right arm is raised on the top of the head, and the muscles of the trunk and limbs fluctuate accordingly. His head leaned back slightly and his eyes were closed, as if he were waking up from a dream. The whole posture and facial expression are in harmony. He stretched himself out, getting rid of all the shackles and starting to exude inner strength. The outline structure of the whole body is not only uniform and perfect, but also embodies accurate anatomical knowledge.

In the exhibition, the Bronze Age was considered by critics to be cast by human body, and Rodin became a dirty liar for a time. Rodin protested to the Academy of Fine Arts, which sent a jury of five sculptors to Rodin's studio. Rodin created a male nude in public without referring to any models. In this impromptu portrait, Rodin undoubtedly demonstrated his precise anatomical knowledge and superb sculpture skills, and defeated this massive attack silently.
