Comparison between Digital Camera and Traditional Camera

The biggest difference is that digital cameras use image sensors instead of traditional film.

1, different manufacturing processes

Traditional cameras use silver salt photosensitive materials, that is, film as a carrier. After shooting, the film has to be developed to get the photos. You can't know whether the photos are good or not, and you can't delete bad photos.

A digital camera uses a charge coupled device (CCD) to sense light instead of film, and then converts the light signal into an electrical signal, which is recorded on a memory card after analog-to-digital conversion. The memory card can be reused.

Because the photos taken by the digital camera need to be digitized before being stored, the photos taken can be played back and viewed, and the dissatisfied photos can be deleted immediately and re-taken.

2, the shooting effect is different

The silver halide film of traditional camera can capture continuous tones and colors, while the CCD element of digital camera will lose some details in dark or bright light. More importantly, the image pixels collected by CCD elements of digital cameras are much smaller than those taken by traditional cameras.

At present, the photos taken by digital cameras are not comparable to traditional cameras in terms of clarity, texture, level and color saturation. However, with the rapid development of digital cameras, there is still a lot of room for research and development, and I believe there will be considerable development in a few years.

3. Different storage media

Images of digital cameras are stored in digital form on magnetic media, while images of traditional cameras are recorded on silver halide films chemically. At present, the storage media of digital cameras mainly include SM card, CF card, XD card, SD card, MMC card, Sony memory stick and IBM small hard disk.

4. Different input and output modes

Images of digital cameras can be directly input into computers, printed after processing or directly made into web pages, which is convenient and quick. The image of a traditional camera must be developed in a darkroom, and it must be scanned into a computer by a scanner for processing, and the quality of the scanned image will inevitably be affected by the accuracy of the scanner.

Advantages of digital cameras:

1. You can see the pictures immediately after taking pictures, thus providing the possibility of immediately remaking the dissatisfied works and reducing the occurrence of regrets;

2. Just pay for those photos you want to develop, and other unnecessary photos can be deleted;

3. Color reproduction and color range no longer depend on film quality; Quantity.

4, the sensitivity is no longer fixed by the film, and the photoelectric conversion chip can provide a variety of sensitivity choices.

Disadvantages of digital cameras:

1. Due to the conversion between imaging elements and image processing chips, the imaging quality is less layered than that of optical cameras.

2. Due to the different technologies of image processing chips from different manufacturers, the colors of the imaged photos are different from the real ones.

3. Due to the lack of core technology in China, the later use and maintenance costs are high.
