Difference between nc and nd filters

NC filter is a kind of protective lens produced by Nikon, and its light transmittance is as high as 98%, which can effectively prevent external dirt such as dust, water droplets and fingerprints from eroding the camera lens. This filter is usually transparent and does not change the original color or contrast of the photo.

ND filter is a neutral density filter, which can adjust the amount of light passing through the lens, thus extending the shutter time or increasing the aperture to control the depth of field. This is very helpful for shooting in strong light environment, pursuing special shooting effects (such as streamer and blur) and controlling exposure. Different from NC filters, ND filters usually have different density levels, such as ND2, ND4, ND8, etc. The specific effect depends on the density level used.

Therefore, NC filter is mainly used to protect the lens surface, while ND filter is used to adjust the light, and their functions are different.
