Ovarian cancer is now emerging! Early detection and treatment of positron emission tomography

Qiu Yiying, a "pretty baby" in Ethan, was shocked when she learned that she had hydronephrosis. At the end of last year, she underwent surgical resection and is currently receiving chemotherapy. Doctors pointed out that ovarian cancer, like pancreatic cancer, is not easy to be screened out in the early stage, and there are usually no obvious symptoms in the early stage, so it is often the third stage when it is diagnosed. At present, in addition to medical history inquiry, * * ultrasound, CA- 125 and Doppler ultrasound, the help of screening methods for early detection is still limited. Advanced positron emission tomography (PET? /CT) Photographic scanning can screen early ovarian cancer more accurately.

Positron computed tomography (PET-CT) can accurately detect whether there are hidden cancer cells in the whole body at an early stage, and it is a sharp tool for early screening of ovarian cancer in women. (Photo courtesy of Guangxin Hospital) Director Liu Weimin of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Affiliated Hospital of Taipei Medical College pointed out that the three major killers of women's health are breast cancer, cervical cancer and ovarian cancer. Among them, the diagnosis of cervical cancer and breast cancer, because there are often early abnormal symptoms in clinic, and it is easy for women to check themselves at any time, so they can be diagnosed early; Because the ovary is located in the pelvic cavity, there are usually no obvious symptoms in the early stage, so it is often the third stage when it is diagnosed.

Especially in the past 10 years, the incidence of ovarian cancer continued to increase. Compared with the past 40 years, the 5-year survival rate of stage 3 and 4 ovarian cancer has not improved significantly, so early screening and prevention are particularly important.

Dr. Liu Weimin said that the most commonly used tools for screening ovarian cancer in clinic are * * * ultrasound and color Doppler ultrasound, and CA- 125 blood screening is an auxiliary tool. But ultrasound diagnosis of early ovarian cancer is still the bottleneck at present; Because the appearance of early ovarian cancer can be similar to the normal size and appearance, it will be quite difficult to diagnose early ovarian cancer simply by traditional ultrasound.

The progress of Doppler ultrasound has improved the ability of traditional ultrasound images to distinguish benign tumors from malignant tumors. These advances include improving the resolution of tumor internal structure and evaluating abnormal vascular structure. The commonly used parameter is resistance index: RI). When the blood flow RI of ovarian tumor

In addition, CA- 125 blood screening is mainly based on the monitoring of ovarian cancer cell surface-associated proteins, and 80% of non-mucinous epithelial ovarian cancer can show ovarian cancer cell surface-associated proteins. It is often used in clinic to monitor the therapeutic effect. However, CA- 125 is not unique to ovarian cancer cells, but also found in fallopian tubes, endometrium, cervical canal, peritoneum, pleura, pericardium, bronchus, gastrointestinal epithelium, gallbladder, and even lung, kidney and pancreas.

So pregnant women, menstrual period, endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, liver cirrhosis, peritonitis and other diseases will also increase, so using CA- 125 alone is not a 100% screening method for ovarian cancer.

Dr Liu Weimin suggested that the average onset age of ovarian cancer is about 50 years old. In addition to the annual cervical smear examination, menopausal women should also have pelvic examination, because cervical smear examination can not diagnose ovarian cancer. There may be genetic risk for people with a family history of epithelial ovarian cancer or breast cancer. It is best to strengthen ovarian and peritoneal monitoring, do color Doppler ultrasound every six months, and use CA- 125 for blood test.

Even in the planning of general physical examination, we can evaluate and do a whole body cancer screening, such as PET-CT scanning, to find out whether there are hidden cancer cells in the whole body at an early stage, so as to keep our body in the best health state and stay away from the threat of ovarian cancer at any time.
