Historical development of circular screen movies

Curtain movies sprouted in the early 20th century. 1900, French Grimá n Sesson used 10 mechanical interlocking 70mm film projector to project in all directions from the center of the hall in a cylindrical hall with a diameter of about 32 m. Due to the limitation of the technical level of optical and electric light sources at that time, the reflected image quality was not good. At that time, the light source used for projection was a high-power carbon lamp, and the room temperature of the projection room was as high as 60℃. When the third scene was shown, there was a fire accident and the screening was forced to stop. Although this practice is not successful, it is a pioneer of the ring screen film.

Half a century later, the idea of realizing screen movies was tried again. 1955, Walter Disney, an American, shot a movie with a116 mm camera in Los Angeles. Use 1 1 electric interlocking 16 mm projector to project it on the opposite screen from the outside of the cylindrical screen in a cylindrical projection hall with a diameter of 12 m through the window on the black bar between 1 1 screens; Single channel magnetic recording and playback are adopted. This practice has been successful and has become a new starting point for the practicality and development of the ring screen film. Since the 1960s, there have been many screen movies in different formats in the United States, the former Soviet Union, Japan and other countries. According to the specifications and the number of pictures used, there are16mm/1,35 mm /9, 35mm/1(or 22), 70 mm /3 and other systems. 1986 completed the screen film system independently developed by China (using 9 35mm films). At present, China has built about 20 cinemas and produced about 10 movies.

By the end of 2009, most of the popular screen movies in the world were multi-film systems. When shooting, you need to use a special camera that can ensure the synchronous operation of multiple films; Multiple projectors should be used during the screening, and the synchronized operation of multiple projectors and 1 (or multiple) sound reproduction equipment should be ensured through the electronic interlocking synchronization system; The recording and playback system of the ring screen movie records stereo multi-channel audio tracks (generally 9- 1 1) on independent tapes (or CDs). During the screening, the magnetic player (or CD) and multiple projectors start, run and stop simultaneously.
