What is the silver salt process in photography?
It is the ordinary film and photosensitive paper process, because the photosensitive layer uses silver halide, so it is called silver salt process. Similarly, there were palladium salt and platinum salt (platinum light) processes in the past. Because they are expensive, only a few artists are using them now. The final image of color film and photographic paper is dye, but the original emulsion layer is still silver salt, so the traditional color image still belongs to silver salt process.
