Ghost town photography

Datong Tulin, also known as Shibangou, is located in Duzhuang Township, datong county, Datong City, Shanxi Province, on the edge of Datong Basin on Sanggan River. The east-west length is about 1km, and the north-south length is 3km. Is a peerless beauty that few people have known for many years.

Soil forest, as its name implies, is a columnar mound of calcified soil deposited for many years. Because it has many columnar mounds, it forms a forest. Soil forest is due to the repeated erosion of rivers, sandstorms and strong winds for thousands of years, forming strange, varied and scattered soil platforms, columns, cliffs and ridges. It is also the only unique strange soil forest in the northwest of China, known as the "ghost town".

From a distance, there is no soil forest at all, which is no different from the vast grassland flat bottom. Because Datong soil forest is below the horizon, only in this environment can it be slowly eroded and weathered into the so-called "soil forest" landform.

Standing on the edge of Datong soil forest, it looks like a stone pillar drilled from the soil, dense, mysterious and majestic. Some stand out from the crowd, some have stone pillars, some have stone walls, and some have gully textures formed by dense winding water, which is very artistic.

Standing in the depths of Datong soil forest, there is a feeling of being in the wilderness and ancient times. Looking around, there is not a trace of green life, but all eyes are yellow. Looking up, some earth columns stand upright and go straight into the sky; Some are like slim girls, beautiful and tall; Others are more like mighty soldiers, holding their heads high and guarding this promised land.

In the southwest corner of Datong soil forest, there is a pond and reeds. Standing on the edge of the soil forest, you can see the spectacular sunset and the reflection in the soil forest water. Datong Tulin is really a magnificent and unique style, and it has also become a creative resort for many photographers.
