Bar photography skills
Want to take a picture in the bar? So what are the photography techniques suitable for bars? Come and have a look with me.
Bar photography skills
1. Use a large aperture, the bigger the better, at least f/2.8.
2. Use the highest ISO sensitivity, higher than 1600.
3. use a flash!
I can satisfy the first two items. I have an f/2.8 lens, and the sensitivity of the camera can be set to 3200 without much noise. But rule 3 stumped me. Can't I do something "use the flash"?
Arrive early
When I got there, because I came earlier and the days were longer in summer, there was still natural light coming through the window. I took great HDR photos with these lights. Another advantage of arriving early is that there are few people in the bar, which is also one of the factors that successfully take HDR photos.
DJ (model) is ready
Then I went to the DJ area, and my friends were preparing. At this time, there is enough light to take pictures, the background will not interfere, and he has not started to be busy. I tried some angles, and then decided to shoot the DJ checking the equipment from behind.
Various attempts
Because I want to take different styles of photos so that my friend can choose his favorite, I tried black and white, color, HDR, slow door, star filter and so on. If he doesn't like a certain style, at least there are other options, and he won't feel nothing. Remember, the more photos you take, the easier it is to find one or two that will satisfy each other.
Different perspectives
Another thing I tried was to shoot from different angles. So I took some photos of DJ wearing headphones (typical DJ style).
There is no flash, only live light.
Through this shooting, I learned a good lesson, how to make full use of the live light to shoot in low light environment without using flash. The light source in the bar is very useful. The result of using a star mirror is to turn the light source into a part of the photo, not just a part of the background.
Because there is no light, I really have some difficulty in close-ups. My solution is to reduce the focal length and then crop the photos later.
Skills that I think are useful
In addition to high sensitivity (try to use low sensitivity, don't turn it to the maximum as soon as you come up) and large aperture:
1. Talk to people who want to shoot on the spot. They are familiar with the scene and know when and what will happen.
2. Get to the place early, prepare first, and take a few photos before there are few people;
3. Crazy shooting, I took 400 photos in 3 hours;
4. Introduce yourself confidently to employees and managers.
5. Understand the work of the subject, the more the better;
6. Try different styles, different perspectives and different filters;
7. Leave extra (batteries, memory cards, etc.). );
8. Pay attention to your equipment and take your camera with you.
What did I learn for the next shoot?
1. Bring a flash (for special occasions);
2. Bring a stool that can stand people, so that you can take pictures.
