Is A8 awesome in the industry?

1994, Audi first developed the structure on A8, and then the same technology was applied to Audi A2 listed on 1999. Then Audi TT in 2006 and Audi R8 in 2007 pushed the lightweight technology to a new height. The third generation Audi A8(D4) updated on 20 10 has opened up another lightweight route. Audi used 13 different aluminum profiles on 243 skeleton components of A8 for the first time. At the same time, the material of B-pillar has also been changed to hot-formed super-grade steel. Since then, this multi-material structure scheme has been popularized. Up to now, 1 10,000 ASF has been put into the market.

The core strength of the new Audi A8 once again focuses on the change of lightweight technology. Like the new Audi Q7 and Bentley Bentayga, the new Audi A8 is also built on the MLB-EVO platform, but compared with the other two models, A8 will pay more attention to the application of lightweight materials. With the launch of the new A8, Audi's multi-material structure will reach the current peak level. This new R&D core no longer only focuses on the proportion of aluminum profiles, but how to use various materials.

In the new A8, Audi pays more attention to the application of various materials.

The brand-new Audi A8 is manufactured in the lightweight research center of Audi, and is manufactured by the newly-built molding equipment in Kassoum factory. In the new position, Audi uses steel, magnesium alloy and carbon fiber composite materials, and other main places are aluminum profiles. This construction method using four materials improves the torsional stiffness of the whole vehicle by 24%. The new A8 weighs 282kg, which is 5 1kg heavier than the current model. The main reason is that the white weight of the new A8 is still the lightest in its class for the requirements of new emission regulations, electrification, performance and testing.

58% of the new Audi A8 is aluminum profile. Among them, it is divided into cast aluminum parts, aluminum extruded parts and stamped aluminum parts. New cast aluminum alloys with new tensile strength are also used in key components. Hot formed steel is used to form the skeleton of passenger compartment. Magnesium alloy is used for triangular frame with top interconnection. This component is 28% lighter than commonly used aluminum.

In the cabin, quite a few places are made of carbon fiber reinforced materials. As the backboard, carbon fiber is used on the new floor. Only this lightweight carbon fiber component contributes 33% of A8 torque.

Like the new structure, the latest technology (SAE grade) on the new A8 is also one of its core advantages. More new sensors will be installed in the new A8. Although not as light as before, the new A8 is not as heavy as a truck due to the new riveting technology.
